Hand #25 - Stewart Scott

Richard Ashby has the button in Seat 4. Elliot Smith makes it 65,000 to go from the cutoff and Stewart Scott reraises to 162,000 from the small blind. Action gets back to Smith, who throws his hand away.

Stewart Scott is getting close to hitting the 5 million chip mark.

Hand #26 - Stewart Scott

Stewart Scott
Stewart Scott
Stewart Scott has the button in Seat 5. Barny Boatman opens the pot by raising to 64,000. Scott calls. Peter Rho and Rajkumar Ramakrishnan both call from the blinds, giving us our first four-way flop. It comes down {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Rho and Ramakrishnan check to Boatman, the preflop aggressor, who bets 125,000. Scott quickly raises to 325,000, putting Boatman to the test after the players in the blinds both fold.

Boatman and Scott are talking to each other, but it's inaudible to us from media row. Whatever Boatman is saying is making Scott smile and laugh. It's becoming a lengthy dialogue between the two as Boatman ponders his decision. Whatever they said, it seems to have convinced Boatman that he's beat. He folds his hand.

Hand #27 - Stewart Scott

Peter Rho has the button in Seat 6. Zach Gruneberg raises to 55,000 under the gun and Stewart Scott reraises to 160,000 from the cutoff. Gruneberg mucks his hand as Scott shows {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

From Pennies to a Fortune

Several players at this final table are into the tournament for less than the full $10,500 price tag. Sam Capra won a AU$330 super satellite at StarCity in Sydney. Zach Gruneberg did him one better; he won a freeroll satellilte on Cake Poker to gain entry. Each of them is now guaranteed at least AU$100,000; an excellent return on their investments.

Hand #32 - Rajkumar Ramakrishnan

Rajkumar Ramakrishnan
Rajkumar Ramakrishnan
Elliot Smith has the button in Seat 3. Rajkumar Ramakrishnan raises to 85,000. Stewart Scott, sitting in the big blind, is the only caller to a flop of {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Scott checks to Ramakrishnan, who bets 150,000. Stewart calls.

The turn is the {5-Spades}, putting three to a flush and three to a straight on the board. Scott again checks. This time Ramakrishnan makes it 300,000. Scott quickly raises to 750,000 and Ramakrishnan calls just as quickly. This is a huge pot, and it's not likely to be a chop.

The river is the {10-Spades}. Scott slows down with a check, as does Ramakrishnan. Incredibly, neither player has a spade. Scott shows {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} for a pair of eights; Ramakrishnan shows {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} for top pair of queens. He takes a bite of almost one million chips out of Scott and has considerably closed the gap between their stacks.

Hand #33 - Elliot Smith

Richard Ashby has the button in Seat 4. Zach Gruneberg raises to 60,000 from middle position and Elliot Smith is the lone caller from the cutoff. The flop runs out {8-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} and Gruneberg bets 80,000. Smith makes the call and the {Q-Hearts} lands on the turn. This time Gruneberg checks it over to Smith, who checks behind. The river is the {9-Clubs} and again Gruneberg checks. Smith shuffles his chips before betting 145,000, enough to get Gruneberg to lay down his hand.
