Schwartz Pushing Hard

Schwartz takes over from Seet
Schwartz takes over from Seet
Noah Schwartz opened to 1,300 in the cutoff and was met with a 2,600 reraise from John Overbeek. Sam Khouiss made the call as did Schwartz.

On a flop of {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} Schwartz led the betting with a 4,500-chip bet and both Overbeek and Khouiss made the call. The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Schwartz's 10,000 bet was enough to take the pot down as he climbed to the chip lead with 116,000 in chips.

Aristidou in Control of His Table

Peter Aristidou hasn't run into much resistance at his table today. He's steadily chipped up throughout the course of the day. A recent hand is pretty emblematic of how it's gone for him. Aristidou made a small preflop raise and was called by the small blind. That player check-called a bet of 2,100 on a flop of {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {6-Spades}. Both players checked through the {9-Diamonds} turn, bringing the action to the {5-Diamonds} river. Aristidou's opponent led out at the point for 4,200, a bet which Aristidou called. The small blind had missed the board entirely, tabling {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Aristidou also missed, but his {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} was the best hand.

Aristidou is up to 58,000 in chips.

Seet Takes Chip Lead

Seet surges to chip lead
Seet surges to chip lead
Nathanael Seet has now taken over the chip lead following his most recent elimination of an opponet. Seet held {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} while his opponent had {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} on a final board that read {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

With that pot Seet jumped to 89,000 to launch above Derek Cheung in the chip counts.

JJ Prodigy Eliminated

Josh "JJ Prodigy" Field has been eliminated from the main event by David Kruger.

Kruger raised preflop to 1,100 and the super short-stacked Field shoved for 1,300 total.

Field's {A-?}{10-?} would be in a race for his tournament life, with Kruger's {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him it would be a losing race with the board completing {k-?}{2-?}{3-?}{q-?}{2-?} to eliminate him.

'The World' Walks

Hennigan exits
Hennigan exits
John 'The World' Hennigan is on his way out of the tournament. Being relatively short-stacked for most of the day he was forced to commit the remainder of his stack after betting 2,000 on a board reading {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Hennigan turned over {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and was unable to improve against his opponent's {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} when the {9-Spades} landed on the river.

McFadden Doubles and Takes a Break

Brian Mcfadden's stated goal for today was to make it past Level 4. We're in Level 5 now, so everything is a freeroll for McFadden at this point. He's not having smooth sailing though. He's been short for a while, and decided to move in preflop for 3700 after squeezing out {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. David Saab, who previously threatend to own McFadden's soul, made the call with {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. McFadden turned a pair of kings to double up to about 8,000 and stay alive. Saab was apparently so distraught about losing the hand that he forgot to put his chips in the pot until the dealer gently reminded him.

Right after the hand ended, McFadden's phone rang. As he reached down to take the call, he realized he was in violation of the rules. Unfortunately for McFadden, a supervisor was summoned and McFadden was given a five-minute penalty.

Bullets Aren't Good for Hippos

Rahme doubles through Khalil
Rahme doubles through Khalil
Preflop, Reza Vakili opened to 1,200 from under the gun and got calls from Raymond Rahme and another player. The action then passed to Ali "The Peppermint Hippo" Khalil in the small blind who popped it up to 5,700. The South African player Rahme was the only player to call, going to the flop.

On a flop of {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} Khalil fired 8,000 which Rahme smooth- called. On the turn {7-Spades} Khalil thought he was setting the trap checking to Rahme who fired 11,000. Khalil then proceeded to move all in and Rahme confidently snap-called for less.

Rahme flipped over {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} for a set of kings, leaving Khalil's {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} drawing fairly thin. The river {9-Clubs} sealed the hand for the South African.

Khalil takes a large hit to 25,000. Rahme moves up to 70,000.

Team Toothpick Takes One Down

Antonis "Toothpick Tony" Kambouris has lots of fans around the Crown Poker Room. They'll be pleased to know that he took a pot off of Peter Aristidou with {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. He bet 5,000 on the river of a {9-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} {Q-Spades} {7-Hearts} and drew a call from Aristidou, who mucked when he saw Toothpick Tony's full house. Tony now has 60,000 chips. Aristidou is still healthy with 50,000.
