Selbst Fights Back

Vanessa Selbst has been on an up and down run tonight. Her day 1a experience probably reached it's peak when she parlayed Aces into a triple elimination, boosting her to over 70,000 chips.

Not a lot has gone right since then, but it seems things may be back on the up.

Recently an opponent moved all in from the button with {10-Diamonds}

for 13,000 and Selbst was the lone caller from the big blind with {k-Hearts}

.

It didn't look good, until the {k-Diamonds}

spiked on the flop. The board blanked out, sending Selbst back to about 55,000.

Jarred flopnutsonyou Graham has been on a blinder in recent months and today's tournament is no exception, now up to 93,000 after a big hand on table 31.

Graham called an opponent's preflop raise of 4,600 to go heads-up to a flop of {q-Spades}

. Graham then check-called the opponent's all in bet of 15,600.

The turn and river ran out {7-Hearts}

; Graham's ten was good enough to take it down and take the opponent out.

Freskos Doubles Through Aristidou

Frank Freskos has just managed to score a double up courtesy of Peter Aristidou after moving all in before the flop holding {A-Clubs}

against Aristidou's {K-Clubs}

.

The flop of {4-Clubs}

put Freskos further ahead, but Aristidou caught a glimmer of hope with the turn of the {Q-Spades}

- though Freskos was in great shape with two pair, any ten would end his day.

It wasn't to be this time around as the river bricked out with the {2-Clubs}

.

Freskos doubled up and Aristidou shrinks back to 18,300.

King, Ace, Please Mate!

Preflop, the hijack made 3,600 and Sherif Derias, who was the next player to act, went into the tank before firing out 10,000. Action folded back to the hijack who called, making it a large pot preflop.

The {k-Spades}

flop saw both players check, as did the {2-Diamonds}

turn. The river was the {A-Spades}

and after thinking a while the hijack checked again. This time Derias thought a little before flicking out a value bet of 4,000.

Turns out it wasn't value enough as his opponent folded. "Gotta be Kings full" said Emad Tahtouh who was seated to Derias' left.

He was close to the mark. Derias rolled over {7-Clubs}

for Sevens full of Deuces.

"I was like King sweet, Ace please mate", said Derias regretting that his trap didn't suck his opponent in.

Recent Eliminations

Amongst the carnage heading into the final three levels of the day, we've seen Sammy Khouiss and Antonio Casale heading to the rail - having both nursed short stacks on feature table 31, it was only a matter of time before both were eliminated.

We also say goodbye to John Delassandri and The Poker Star's Josh Budin and Amanda De Cesare, however it's not necessarily the be all and end all for anyone that's busted today - all players have the option of trying their luck in the Day 1c repechage on Saturday.
