Josh Budin is a player that has rapidly developed a profile here in Australia in the latter half of 2009. Part of the unique poker reality TV show "The Poker Star" Budin didn't win the title on the show, but he's certainly proven his abilities on the felt.
In a recent hand, Budin got his chips into the middle on a board holding pocket nines against Jason Guiliano who aggressively played his straight draw. The river filled up Budin to jump him to 24,000 and send Guiliano to the exit.
Brad Rawiller has raced out to 38,000 and if one of his recent hands is anything to go by, he hasn't exactly done it the hard way.
With a decent preflop exchange, an flop hit, with Rawiller leading 1,000 chips. The opponent moved in for 8,500 and Rawiller thought a moment before making the call.
It was a good call, the opponent shocked the table rolling over for a rather brave (or stupid) bluff.
Rawiller's would be the best hand after the turn and river to add to his mountain of chips.
Antonio Casale's chip stack is looking lean at the moment, but there's no stopping the crowd favourite - he's even sizing himself up for a foot race with tournament director Mike Tarr.
"What are you, 14, 15 stone?" Casale asked Tarr.
"I'm 103 kilos, so about that," Tarr replied. "But it's a very healthy 103!"
"I'll still beat you in a race though," Casale boasted.
"My money's on Casale," this blogger quipped. "Mine too!" replied Tarr.
After raising preflop, Emanuel "Curly" Seal raised the bet of his opponent to 600 on an flop and received a call.
The turn brought a repeat and Seal's opponent in the big blind didn't give up and fired out again for 500. Seal just flat called and they saw yet another fall on the river.
The big blind fired out again for 1,000 but Seal popped it once again, this time to 3,000. His opponent called, but Seal flipped for just quads to take it down. He's up to 18,000.
Brit Dan Carter (not to be confused with rugby player) has already declared, "This is the easiest table I've ever been on. One guy just limp-calls every hand. They're worse than the French!"
