Champagne Loves The Ladies

Mark "Champagne" Salkanovic is up to 15,000 after eliminating a short-stacked player.

The short stack was all in preflop for 600 as two live players saw the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, but Salkanovic's 1,500 bet on the flop was enough to drive out his other opponent.

Salkanovic tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for a set of queens to leave the short stack in trouble with his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. The turn {9-Hearts} and river {9-Clubs} improved Salkanovic to a full house to send his opponent to the rail.

Hodge Not Flying High

Hodge's stack is going the wrong way
Hodge's stack is going the wrong way
Luke Hodge, who plays with the Hawthorn Hawks in the Australian Football League, has taken a hit to his stack.

Hodge led out 1,500 on an {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop and his opponent flat called. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn, and Hodge checked again when the {j-Diamonds} hit the river.

The opponent fired out a smallish bet of 2,500 and Hodge responded by open mucking {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

"S**t flop", said Hodge counting off his remaining 5,800 chips.

Dong Doubles

Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan 'xMONSTERxDONGx' Karamalikis has found a double up at the expense of Dave Lee.

It was a flip with all the chips in preflop. Lee held the overcards with his {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} needing to improve against Karamalikis' {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

However Karamalikis gave a cry of "Yes!" as a ten hit the flop which was more than enough for him to double up to 11,200.

We'll meet again...
We'll meet again...
James Akenhead has been eliminated after being all-in on the turn of a {Q-Diamonds} {8-?} Xd X board holding {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. His opponent's {A-?} {8-?} had him both beat and covered after a non-diamond non-nine river. Akenhead likely to return again to play on Day 1c.

More of Selbst

Things weren't looking good for Vanessa Selbst early in this tournament. She dropped as far as half her starting stack, but is looking healthy again after doubling through Kaz Jomeen.

Selbst opened to 650. and Jomeen fired back to 1775. Selbst responded by moving all in and after thinking it over Jomeen made the call.

Selbst: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Jomeen: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}.

Selbst is up to 14,000.

Cart-load Of Chips

Just before the break, Dan Carter reraised a UTG+1 raiser sitting next to him from 700 to 2,000. The other player called with about 5,000 behind, before leading for 2,000 into Carter on the {4-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} flop.

Carter moved all-in for 6,200 and his opponent called with {10-Spades} {10-?}. Carter flipped {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} for a Royal Flush draw and caught the flush on the {3-Hearts} turn while the {6-Hearts} river changed nothing.

Carter is up to about 17,000.
