Tardy Brits...

Tony 'The Lizard' Bloom
Tony 'The Lizard' Bloom
Never settling for a reputation of being on time or winning anything, there's a trend appearing when it comes to the British players today.

Most of the Brits so far: James Keys, Toby Lewis, Rupert Elder, Karl Mahrenholz, Scott O'Reilly and George McDonald are all squeezed into the slightly awkward 10 seat on their tables having arrived at the last minute.

The only ones to have avoided this fate are Welshman Iwan Jones and former Aussie Millions Main Event winner Tony 'The Lizard' Bloom.

Sweating it Out

With such a big field and a full range of satellite and cash action already cranking, Crown has had to accommodate with some temporary tables in a spill over area at the back of the room.

Unfortunately the area has a low ceiling and as a result of the number of players in the confined space it is having a sauna like effect.

Crown is showing good sense in breaking these tables first, but some of the notables currently up there include Raj Ramakrishnan, Trung Tran, Jim Sachinidis, Andrew Jeffries, Dennis Huntly, and Tony Bloom.

Pampliega Jumps Ahead

Luis Pampliega is out to an early lead thanks to a big three-way all-in pot. The action flop was {3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} as Pampliega was more than happy to see his set of threes get action from both {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The turn was the {10-Spades} and river the {6-Diamonds} and Pampliega jumps up to a healthy 25,000 chips.

A Few Names

A couple of the other notable players amongst the sea of players this afternoon include Jai Kemp, Mel Judah, Leo Boxell, Lee Nelson, Julian Powell, Tony Dunst, Marsha Waggoner, Brendon Rubie, Bill Jordanou, Hai Bo Chu, Dan Morris and Garry Gates.

Guzzardi Loses Pot, Wins Friend

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Michael Guzzardi fired out 1,125 from early position but was raised by the player on the button to 2,750. Guzzardi made the call and they saw the {4-Spades} fall on the river.

Guzzardi checked and then called the 3,625-chip bet of his opponent only to muck when he saw his opponent flip {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a set.

Guzzardi is currently reading the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" at the table, so we assume that losing the pot is just a small sacrifice to winning a friend! He's down to 3,100.

Kim Doubles Up Early

It looks like we've had our first elimination of the day. We're not sure of the victim but the winner of the pot was Joseph Kim who flopped a set of sixes and improved to a full house when the money went in on the turn on the {6-?}{K-?}{2-?}{K-?} board. His opponent revealed {A-?}{K-?} and couldn't improve on the {Q-?} river.

Kim moves up to 20,000 in a very nice start to the day.

The Champ Is Here

Twelve months ago a young man by the name of Stewart Scott rose to fame and fortune when he won the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event and a handsome $2 million dollars.

Since that time, Scott has proven he is no one hit wonder, with another local title and several sizable cashes in the US and throughout Asia.

Scott has taken his seat in today's field and will be feeling good about being back on the Aussie Millions felt.
