Edmonds Emerges!

Brendan Edmonds managed to take down a massive pot and is now on top of the counts with 90,000 in chips after a massive hand that unfolded on Peter Aristidou's table.

Michael Spilkin raised before the flop to 3,500 before Edmonds reraised to 9,800. The player on the button reraised all in for around 28,000, Spilkin folded and Edmonds snap-called.

Edmonds: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Button: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}; Aristidou reached out for the board and cried, "I would have hit a straight!"

The staff told him off for touching the cards, but it was merely a distraction from the player on the button heading to the rail while Edmonds raked in his newly found chips.

Chips Go Directly To Gao

Harry Kaczka raised to 1,800, the button called and Jie Gao also called from the big blind.

The flop came {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Clubs} and Kaczka bet 2,100 after Gao checked. The button raised to 5,100 and Gao called this, while Kaczka folded.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds} turn before Gao fired out 10,000 on the {K-Diamonds} river to which the button immediately folded.

Why Limping Loses

The sandbagging strategy just seems to create too many complicated post-flop situations.

Recently a player in early position probably regretted limping his {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} into Rody Kaka with {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} in the big blind.

The flop came {2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Kaka fired out 2,000. The opponent just flat called. Kaka loved the {Q-Clubs} turn and fired out 6,000. He loved it even more when the opponent decided to move all in.

Of course Kaka snap called and the river blanked the {4-Diamonds}.

"If he bets preflop or on the flop, I'm out of there," said Kaka as he dragged the near 45,000 chip pot.

Just Another Manic Munday

David Munday raised to 2,100 from middleposition before the cut-off reraised to 5,100. Manny Stavropoulos flat-called this 3-bet and so did Munday.

The flop came {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts}, Stavropoulos checked, Munday bet 11,000, the button pushed for 35,000 and Stavropoulos tanked for ages before calling and Munday called the rest of his stack all-in.

Munday: {J-?} {J-?}
Button: {10-?} {10-?}
Stavropoulos: {K-?} {K-?}

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and the river was the {6-Diamonds}.

An ecstatic Munday trebled up to 55,000 while Stavropoulos dropped to 25,000.

Smooth Moves from Stavropoulos

Manny Stavropoulos and Andrew Hinrichsen were heads-up into a flop that read {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}; Stavropoulos led out for 2,000 and Hinrichsen called before calling Stavropoulos' bet of 6,000 on the turn of the {a-Clubs}.

The dealer produced the {10-Spades}; Stavropoulos snap-shoved for 16,100, sending Hinrichsen deep into the tank.

Hinrichsen let it go and Stavropoulos showed {6-Spades}{5-Clubs} for bottom pair. Stavropoulos is on 27,000 while Hinrichsen is down to 25,000.

Kaka's Stack Washed Away

"Carwash" George Cotaidis has relieved Rody Kaka of the majority of his stack recently.

Heads up on a {2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, Kaka led out and then in rapid succession Cotaidis came over the top before Kaka moved all in, with Cotadis calling for all his chips and slapping {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the table for a set.

He would need to sweat Kaka's {k-Spades}{10-Spades} flush outs. The {6-Hearts} turn was ok and Cotaidis jumped out of his seat to sweat the river. It proved all clear as well with the harmless {10-Clubs} hitting.

The hand moved Cotaidis to around 60,000 and dropped Kaka to 25,000.

Not So Great Scott

Stewart Scott is out of this preliminary event after losing a quarrel with Sorel Mizzi. Last year's Aussie Millions Winner was all-in with {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} against the hyper-aggressive Mizzi's {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}.

The {Q-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {3-Clubs} board meant the Canadian was flushed with success, Mizzi is back up to 45,000

Guzzardi Gone!

Michael Guzzardi fades to gray
Michael Guzzardi fades to gray
Michael Guzzardi's first event of the 2010 Aussie Millions is over.

A hideously short-stacked Guzzardi moved all in from early position and the big blind made the 3,225 chip call.

Guzzardi: {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flopped left Guzzardi in pretty bad shape. The {j-Spades} hit the turn, but the river {3-Spades} would not be a card to save him.

Guzzardi hits the rail in good company, as Jamie Pickering just busted at a nearby table.

Demetriou Crippled

Andrew Demetriou has been cut back to 14,000 in chips after moving his money into the middle holding {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} against an opponent's {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} on a flop that read {4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Demetriou kept the lead when the {k-Spades} came down on the turn, but the opponent spiked a straight when the {6-Spades} appeared on the river.

Saab Knows His Opponents

Ben Delaney had opened to 2,800 from the cutoff and his opponent in the small blind was considering making the call.

David Saab, not involved in the hand and true to his usual form, looked at the player considering the action and asked, "Has he been making a lot of steals?"

This prompted the small blind to move all in over Delaney, forcing a fold from the top ranked Australian online player.

Saab was warned by the dealer at the end of the hand for influencing the play. Not deterred Saab was back with the chat just a little while later asking Delaney if he plays online. Delaney's response was no.

Ben Delaney's just the top ranked online player in Australia.
