Woods Crippled, Then Doubles Up

Having been crippled in a massive hand after Kyle McMurphy turned a straight with {k-Spades}{10-Spades} on a board of {3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, Barry Woods moved his last 2,850 into the middle with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} a few hands later.

McMurphy called, tabling {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Woods was flipping for his tournament life.

However the board was spread {6-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}; Woods doubled up and the game continues.

Another Double Up for Woods

The double up omen (or curse) seems to be creeping into this heads-up final as Barry Woods scores another crucial pot to stay alive.

The money was all in the middle preflop; Woods had turned up {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} but was behind Kyle McMurphy's {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

The flop of {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} put Woods in the lead but gave McMurphy a gutshot straight draw, which didn't appear as the turn and river bricked out {6-Hearts}, {3-Spades}.

There's every chance the Main Event will finish before this game. Whose turn is it for the coffee run?

McMurphy Takes Back the Lead

Kyle McMurphy limped in from the button preflop and Barry Woods checked his option from the big blind before check-calling McMurphy's bet of 525 on the flop of {j-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Woods then check-called McMurphy's bet of 1,200 on the turn of the {k-Diamonds} before check-calling again after McMurphy fired out 3,250 on the river of the {3-Spades}.

McMurphy tabled {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for trips, which was good enough to take down the pot and the overall chip lead.

Do 1.5 Wins Each Count?

Kyle McMurphy limped in from the button preflop, Barry Woods checked from the big blind, then both players checked the flop of {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} before Woods led out for 1,700 on the turn of the {7-Clubs}.

McMurphy smooth-called, then raised Woods all in after Woods' bet of 3,100 on the river of the {9-Hearts}. Woods called all in and the cards were tabled:

McMurphy: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Woods: {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

That'd be a chop, ladies and gents.

Woods Takes Two Pots

Barry Woods is not giving up without a fight, having taken the last two pots off Kyle McMurphy.

Woods and McMurphy checked a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}; McMurphy check-called Woods' bet of 1,600 on the turn of the {9-Clubs} and then check-called Woods' bet of 3,200 on the river of the {10-Diamonds}.

Woods showed {9-Hearts}{8-Spades} and McMurphy mucked.

In the second hand, Woods raised preflop to 1,400 and McMurphy called before both checked the flop of {7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

On the turn of the {10-Clubs} McMurphy checked, Woods fired out 1,100 and McMurphy called before check-folding on the river {j-Spades} after Woods fired out 3,650.

Meanwhile the Main Event has finished for the day and the staff have finished clearing up. All that's left is to finish this game ...

Woods Holds On

Kyle McMurphy had managed to whittle Barry Woods down to less than 10,000 in chips and looked to deliver the killer blow when he moved all in with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

Woods called with {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} but the board was spread {k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} - there seems to be no end in sight. The chip counts are level once again.

Nothing to Report ...

Kyle McMurphy and Barry Woods have been locked in a "raise-from-button-pre-fold-big-blind" cycle for the last 20 minutes.

The blinds have been capped at 600/1,200, but with no action it has cleared the room of all but four spectators, the media and Crown Staff.

Such is the nature of the beast.

Woods Doubles Again

Kyle McMurphy had been forcing Barry Woods all-in on several occasions and his aggression had been paying off, working Woods down to a stack less than 10,000 in chips.

However, as has become tradition in this tournament, we've seen yet another double up by the short stack to bring the scores back to even.

So without further ado, here were the cards that were tabled after Woods was forced all in preflop:

McMurphy: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Woods: {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

The board was spread {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and we can't seem to figure out what in the H-E-double hockey sticks is going on.
