Welcome Back to the Australian Heads Up Championship

This is easily one of the most anticipated events on the schedule. Heads up play, whether tournament or cash is a true test of a poker player's bravery and skills of deduction - and they will definately be on display today.

Day 1b will start with a field of 32 and will conclude with four players joining Andrew Lichtenberger, Barry Woods, Martin Gudvangen and Vanessa Selbst as the quarter-finalists, who will play tomorrow.

Giddy up we're go in less than 10 minutes.

Delay

The tables are ready to go. The dealers are pumped. The crowd is gathering on the rail.

One problem, no players. Their kind of important, we'll let you know when we're started.

Three First Round Matches Started

Jonathan Karamalikis is playing Andrew Seidman.
Bill Jordanou has Emil Patel.
Fabian Geisel is up against Harry Demetriou.

David Saab and Brian Roberts have been seen in the room but their respective first round games are yet to start.

Patel Goes One Up

Emil Patel has gone one up against Billy Jordanou.

We caught action on a {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. Jordanou fired out a bet of 625 and Patel called. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and Jordanou bet 1,025. Again Patel called.

The river was the {6-Spades} and Jordanou moved in, sending Patel into the tank. Eventually he called.

"You got a pair," asked Jordanou.
"Yes," said Patel.
"How big?" queried Jordanou.

Patel rolled over {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

"Bloody turn," fumed Jordanou.

Patel is up rubber.

Fabian Geisel Sets Up A 1-0 Lead

Fabian Geisel has taken a lead against Harry Demetriou. Geisel got on top early and we returned to the table to see the last of Demetriou's chips going in on an {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} board.

Geisel turned over {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} to take down Demetriou's {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Geisel leads 1-0.

Patel Showboating; Karamalikis and Geisel on Top

On a {k-?} high board, Billy Jordanou led 175 only for Patel to raise over the top.

"Your king is good," said Jordanou, as he folded. Patel couldn't help himself rolling over {j-Spades}{9-Clubs} for airball.

"Your jack nine is good too," said Jordanou with a smile.

In the other two matches Karamalikis is on top of Baluga Whale by playing small pots and Geisel looks in charge of his game against Harry Demetriou.

Entries

22 entries to today's field so far. The tournament will be locked out at 32 or 4pm, whichever comes first.

Saab vs Rosenkrantz Starting

The noisiest game in the room is just about to begin.

David Saab just sat down with Jay Rosenkrantz. "If you four bet me, i'm going to shove on you," said Saab.

"What's a four bet?" came the reply quick as a whip from Krantz.

"Come on Dueces cracked boy. So what's your specialization anyway?" asked Saab.

"I got no fear" replied Rosenkrantz.

Rosenkrantz is of course known for his heads up play ability. This should be a good game.

Jordanou Still Struggling

Billy Jordanou is still struggling. Recently he made a full house and and bet out only for Patel to fold.

"I can't get 200 chips out of this guy with a full house," said Jordanou.

David Saab is on top against Jay Rosenkrantz taking down six of the first seven pots. "What limit do you play online," asked Saab.

"Pretty high," came the response from Krantz.

"Well at least when you lose, you can go home and tell them you got the toughest draw," said Saab.
