Con Artist

Con Angelakis is back in the hunt after a recent double up through former chip leader Oliver Gill.

Gill opened the pot with a button raise to 20,000 and Angelakis, next to act in the small blind, reraised all in for about 71,000. Gill made the call and the cards hit their backs:

Gill: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Angelakis: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

The board then filled out {J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Angelakis took down the pot with aces full of jacks, improving to 150,000 in chips.

Gill dropped to 205,000 in the loss.

On the Up and Up

Billy Seri is making good use of his newfound chips, having improved to 95,000 in chips since his double up a few hands ago.

In a recent hand against Con Angelakis, Seri opened with a raise to 35,000 from under-the-gun and Angelakis called from the big blind.

The flop came down {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Angelakis checked to Seri who moved all in for about 32,000. Angelakis frustratingly tossed his cards into the muck pile, dropping to 70,000 in chips.

Seri Rivers a Double Up

Short stack Billy Seri got it all in before the flop against chip leader Annette Obrestad holding {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} against Obrestad's {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}.

The ensuing board filled out {J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Seri claimed the pot with trip nines, improving to 65,000 in chips.

Obrestad was left with a still-healthy 355,000 in chips after the minor setback.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Patience in the early levels has paid off for Ryan Gutch, who has just strung together a pair of double-ups to improve to 205,000 in chips.

In what was a limped pot, action was checked to Billy Seri who bet the pot after the flop came {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Gutch then repotted all-in and Seri made the call:

Seri: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Gutch: {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The turn and river then filled out {2-Diamonds}, {K-Diamonds} giving Gutch a boat and new life in the tournament. Seri was left with 45,000 in chips after the hand.

Double Gutch

Ryan Gutch has just doubled through to 110,000 in chips, courtesy of chip leader Annette Obrestad.

Obrestad opened the pot with a raise from under-the-gun and action folded around the table to Gutch in the big blind who moved all in. Obrestad made the call and a showdown ensued:

Obrestad: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}
Gutch: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The board then ran out {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Gutch took down the pot with an eight-high straight.

Annette_15 Approaching 400k

Annette Obrestad took down the first significant post-break pot in a hand against Con Angelakis that sent her ever closer to 400,000 in chips.

Angelakis opened the pot with a raise to 20,000 from early position and Obrestad repopped it from the big blind to 55,000. Angelakis just called and the two saw an {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop.

Obrestad then led out with a 40,000 flop bet -- about a third of Angelakis' remaining stack -- and he let go of his hand, surrendering the pot to Obrestad, who is now sitting with about 395,000 in chips.
