Rollercoaster Ride For Obrestad

Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad has taken a hit before quadrupling back up the next very hand to get herself back in the game.

In the first hand Obrestad had her opponent all in on a flop of {5-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Obrestad tabled {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for top two pair as her opponent flipped {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. The turn was the {7-Spades} and river the {2-Spades} to give her opponent a running flush to take the pot.

Obrestad was left with less than 2,000 in chips, which she committed the very next hand. After finding two callers, another player re-potted once again to drive out the callers and the two showed down their holdings:

Obrestad: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The flop was kind to Obrestad as it fell {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} to give her two pair and the lead. The turn changed things around as the {A-Hearts} completed her opponent's flush and left Obrestad in trouble.

She was calling for a six but the {J-Diamonds} landed which was just as good, to give Obrestad a full house and a quadruple up to nearly 8,000 in chips.

Hachem Runs Kings Into Aces

Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem raised to 600 from under the gun and found a call in the big blind.

They saw a heads-up flop of {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Spades} and a raising war ensued that left the big blind's last chips in the middle.

Hachem: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Big Blind: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The turn was the {4-Spades} and river the {5-Spades} to leave the aces in front as Hachem slips to 9,500.

Bruno Burned

We didn't see the preflop action but the board read {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Bruno Portaro who started the hand with about 16,000 led out with a pot sized bet only to have his opponent on the button raise the pot. Portaro than re-potted for the rest of his chips and his opponent made the call.

Portaro: {K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Button: {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Portaro was ahead with bottom two pair, but the {10-Spades} put him in bad shape. The river was a meaningless {q-Spades} and Portaro was eliminated from today's action.

Khouiss Crippled By Neilson

Sam Khouiss is not a happy chappy right now. We believe the chips may have gone into the middle on the flop, as we arrived at the table to see the chips being pushed towards Daniel Neilson and Khouiss cursing his bad luck.

The board read {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Khouiss showed {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for trips but Neilson had run him down with his {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Clubs} making a running flush to win the sizable pot.

Khouiss slammed the table as he was left with just 4,000 in chips, while Neilson now sits with 17,000.

Paino Gets A Little Cautious

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {J-Spades}{3-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, Lee Nelson led out with a bet of 2,600 with Tony Paino making the call.

The river was the {K-Clubs} and Nelson checked to Paino who strangely checked behind with {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, seemingly in fear of Nelson holding the case jack. Nelson didn't and Paino collected the pot to climb to 44,000. Nelson sits with 14,700.

Gamble, Gamble

Emad Tahtouh raised from the cutoff and when an unknown player re-raised all in for 3,950 from the small blind, Tahtouh quipped, "Ok, let's gamble gamble!" before tossing out calling chips.

Small Blind: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Tahtouh: {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

It was junk against the small blind's aces but when the board filled out {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} Tahtouh had made two pair which was good to collect the chips. He's up to 26,000.

Khouiss Cut

A steaming Sam Khouiss has had his tournament come to an end with his last chips in the middle preflop with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} against an opponent's {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-?}{3-Hearts}.

The board of {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts} missed Khouiss and he was sent to the exit.
