Open Faced Chinese All Over

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

So far we've spotted about five players playing Open Faced Chinese poker on either their iPod or iPhones here during the Main Event. The most famous of them all, Jason Mercier, is constantly switching between different games on his iPad. Mercier has been one of the OFC front runners and the games on his iPad might even be more important today than this Main Event, considering the stakes he probably plays.

Some More Legends

Three top guns who all participated in the $100,000 event just showed up for the Main Event. Philipp Gruissem already found a seat while Vanessa Selbst and Fabian Quoss are on the waiting list for seats to open up.

Selbst was just sweating a hand with Gruissem who bet 3,100 on a {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop. His opponent called from the button, and the turn was the {6-Spades}. Both players checked after which Gruissem check-folded on the river to a 4,000-chip bet.

"Unlucky sweat," Gruissem smiled to Selbst who wondered off in between the other tables. At that point the announcer called out Quoss' name who's probably got himself a seat.

The tournament just got a whole lot tougher, and we're sure nobody in this event is looking forward to playing against these three pros.

Tobias Reinkemeier and Niklas Heinecker's seats are also ready in the Main Event, and the tournament staff is trying to locate the Germans right now.

Putt Takes from Gruissem

Philipp Gruissem opened to 500 in middle position, Graham Putt called on his direct left, and the rest of the players folded. The dealer fanned {3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, and Gruissem led out for 800. Putt called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and Gruissem slowed down, checking to Putt. The Australian fired 1,900, and Gruissem tossed his cards into the muck.

Mercier Raises Collado

On a {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop the player in the big blind checked after which Jan Collado, who was seated to his immediate left, bet 675. Jason Mercier called from the button and the big blind folded.

The turn brought out the {3-Hearts} and Collado check-called 2,050. On the river the {Q-Spades} hit and this time Collado lead out for 3,750. Mercier asked how much Collado had behind and the German moved his hand so Mercier could see what was going on. Collado had about 36,000 chips behind and Mercier raised it up to 10,400. Collado tanked for a bit and finally released his hand.

Mercier quickly went back to one of his pending Open Faced Chinese Poker games as he started stacking his new chips. He's up to around 52,000 and doing very well early on.

Marcus Can't Beat Flopped Set

Van Marcus and two opponents saw a flop of {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}. All three players checked.

The turn was the {10-Hearts}, Marcus led out for 725, and both of his opponents called.

The {3-Spades} completed the board, and the action checked to a player who fired 2,650. Marcus quickly called, and the third player tank-folded.

The player tabled {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a flopped set of queens, and Marcus laughed before mucking his hand. The cash game specialist is down to just 7,000 chips.
