Wright Move, Right Time

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We caught the action on the river in a heads-up pot between Nicholas Wright and Brian Altman. With the community cards reading {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} Wright had bet out for 20,000. Altman raised to 75,000 and Wright instantly moved all-in for just over 100,000 in total.

Priced in Altman made the call but his {3-Clubs}{j-Clubs} was behind to Wright’s rivered straight. Wright doubled to 320,000 while Altman dropped to 244,000.

Blatt Busted

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Peter Aristidou opened with an early position raise to 18,000 before it folded around to Dean Blatt on the button. Blatt then pushed all in for roughly 85,000 and Aristidou made the call to put Blatt at risk.

Blatt: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Aristidou: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Blatt was dominated and while he found a queen on the {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, Aristidou simultaneously found a king to maintain the lead. The {8-Hearts} turn and {a-Spades} river couldn’t save Blatt and he headed to the payout desk.

Luke Martinelli Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Christian Nilles got his last 167,000 in the middle before the flop against his neighbor Luke Martinelli. It was a coin flip situation as Nilles showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} while Martinelli showed down {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The board ran out {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} ending the roller coaster of a board in favorite of Nilles' jacks.

Martinelli was down to just a couple of chips and was in the big blind not much later. Fedor Holz opened for 18,000 and cutoff Steven Swalling called. Martinelli raised all in for 22,000 total and Holz and Swalling both called.

"I haven't looked!" Martinelli said.

Holz bet out 20,000 on {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Swalling called. Holz check-called 26,000 on the {J-Spades} turn before he check-folded to Swalling's 57,000 bet on the {5-Diamonds} river. Swalling showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and knocked out Martinelli who only had {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Altman Busts McCorkell

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Craig McCorkell
Craig McCorkell

A short-stacked Craig McCorkell moved all-in from early position for 36,000 with Ruzman Hussan making the call in the small blind before Brian Altman squeezed all-in from the big blind to take the hand heads-up.

McCorkell’s {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} was trailing to Altman’s {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and the British player tapped the table and headed to the rail when the board ran out {2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs} {4-Spades}{a-Hearts} while Altman stacked up to 430,000 in chips.

Vijayaram Flushes MacDonnell

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded around to Shurane Vijayaram on the button who raised it up to 21,000. Marc MacDonnelll was seated in the big blind and called.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades} and both players checked.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and MacDonnell led out for 26,000. Vijayaram called.

The {7-Spades} completed the board and MacDonnell checked. Vijayaram stared at his opponent for a moment then splashed out a bet totalling 55,000. MacDonnell called shortly after, then mucked his hand, when Vijayaram revealed {3-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush.

Lee Leaves Us

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Wai Kiat Lee was the most recent to depart after running into Richard Ashby’s monster hand. Lee was all in preflop for his last 130,000 before the cards went on their backs.

Lee: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Ashby: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Lee was at risk but it was Ashby who was standing with his hands clasped in prayer – and it turns out that worked – as the board came down {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} to see Ashby’s aces hold and Lee sent to the rail.

Yan Doubles Dixon

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Nicholas Dixon has just earned himself a double up courtesy of [Removed:17]. Dixon was the aggressor in the hand, opening to 16,000 from the hijack with Yan making the call from the big blind.

The {2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop brought a check from Yan and a continuation bet of 35,000 from Dixon, which Yan called.

Yan checked for the second time on the {4-Clubs} turn and Dixon moved all-in for 172,000 in total. Yan took a long time over the decision, smiling to himself as he did so but eventually sighed and tossed in the calling chips.

Dixon turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, which was leading Yan’s speculative {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and improved further when the {q-Hearts} hit the river to shoot him up to 450,000 while Yan fell to 290,000.

Hausen Handles Douaglin

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Joel Douaglin finished 3rd in this event two years ago but unfortunately for him he has come up short of another final table appearance.

The money went in on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} after Douaglin check-jammed for 194,000. Tobias Hausen was the only other active player and he called it off to put Douaglin at risk.

Douaglin: {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Hausen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Douaglin was behind and he couldn’t turn the tables as the {6-Hearts} turn and {3-Hearts} river rolled off to signal the end of his tournament run.

Tilly Runs Into Top-Set

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

On a board of {4-Spades}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Jennifer Tilly checked from the small blind. Over in the cutoff, Nino Marotta bet 44,000. The decision was on Tilly and she carefully cut out the chips to call first, followed by some 25,000-chips to make it a raise.

Marotta asked how much it was, and called upon hearing it was 145,000. Tilly showed {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Marotta took it down with the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

Edgtton: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
