Women's Poker Spotlight: Sarah Bilney

Sarah Bilney
Sarah Bilney
Playing in today's flight is Sarah Bilney, who over the last three years has become a fixture on the Australian poker scene. "Aussie Sarah" made her major tournament debut in the 2005 WSOP Main Event, where she finished 63rd of 5,619 entries, taking home over $145,000. She returned to Las Vegas for the '06 WSOP, and made four cashes, including a $50K score in the $2,500 NLHE event.

Bilney sat out the '07 WSOP and gave birth to a baby girl this past August. She's only returned to the tournament scene over the last couple of months, playing in most of the Poker News Cup and Aussie Millions events here at the Crown. She faces a tough table today, stacked with local legend Leo Boxell, high-stakes specialist Joe Reina, and the current leader of the Crown's Poker Player of the Year Race, Andrew Demetriou.

Quads Everywhere

Jon Van Fleet also found himself with quads holding J-5 on a board of 5-5-Q-5-4. However unlike earlier reports of quads, in his hand Van Fleet was able to get paid off as his opponent called his all in bet with Q-T as Van Fleet doubles up to back over 20,000 chips.

Olson's Aces

Carl Olson
Carl Olson
Out on a popular table 16, Carl Olson watched four players call a 300 chip raise as he looked down at his cards in the small blind and saw {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Olsen bumped it up to 1,600 to go and found only one customer in Amnon Filippi from the cutoff position.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn brough the {9-Clubs}. Olson checked once again and Filippi fired 3,600 in the middle. Olson casually tossed out a yellow 5,000 denomination chip to signal a call. The river is the {6-Diamonds} and once again both players checked.

Olson's showed his aces, Filippi simply tapped the table and tossed his cards into the muck as Olson takes down a nice pot.

David Doubles Doug

A short-stacked Doug Lee committed all of his chips into the middle in a raised pot on a board of {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}. David Singer had plenty of chips and decided to take a shot at eliminating Lee by making the call with {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Lee flipped over {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} and when the board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} Doug Lee had doubled up to around 13,000 chips.
