ActionJeff Levels

Jeff Garza has levelled his series with David Sonelin at 1-1.

Sonelin's pair of fives was counterfeited on the river when the board read {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Garza was drawing with his {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} but in the end his ten-kicker played to give him the win!

Timex Runs Into Rockets

On a board of {2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} Mike "Timex" McDonald called the all in re-raise of Masaaki Kagawa. McDonald held {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} but it wasn't good against the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} of Kagawa.

McDonald is now left peddling the short stack in this rollercoaster battle!

Alexey Popov Eliminated
On a flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} Alexey Popov shoved over the top of the initial bet of Xuan Nguyen, however Nguyen made an easy call holding the nut straight with his {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Popov held {A-Spades}{4-Spades} and was in deep trouble. The turn and river arrived {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Alexey Popov is the first quarter final elimination taking home AU$20,000 for his efforts.

Xuan Nguyen advances to the semi finals in a 2-1 result!

Kagawa Back From His Knees

Masaaki Kagawa
Masaaki Kagawa
Mike "Timex" McDonald had Masaaki Kagawa down to desperation stage but he has since been able to double up three times in succession.

The first hand "Timex" had {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts} against Kagawa's {Q-Spades}{2-Spades} however Kagawa spiked a queen on the turn to survive.

Kagawa then doubled again when he won a race with his pocket sixes holding against the A-J of "Timex".

Kagawa then doubled for a third time. He opened the action with a raise to 750 from the button and "Timex" put him all in. Kagawa made the call with {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and was ahead of the {Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} of "Timex". The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs} to give Kagawa the pot and put the two players back to about the same amount of chips!

Popov Squares With Nguyen

Alexey Popov has levelled with Xuan Nguyen at 1-1.

On a flop of {3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts} the money went in with Popov holding a flush draw with his {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} against the high card and gutshot draw of Nguyen who held {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The turn blanked but a queen on the river gave Popov the only pair, and he evens things up at 1-1 as they head into a decider!

Lee Nelson's Lucky Shirt + Jacket!
Lee Nelson is wearing his infamous lucky tropical Hawaiian shirt that he made famous for its success in major final table appearances such as when he won the Aussie Millions Main Event in 2006. However after losing the first match against Roy Winston, Nelson has quickly put on a jacket in a sign that perhaps the shirt's lucky mojo isn't working too well today!
