What a Read!!

Van Marcus
Van Marcus
Van Marcus just made the kind of laydown that explains why he's got a spot at the final table.

On a board showing {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Lee Watkinson passes the first action to Van Marcus who bets out 11,500, leaving himself approximately 27,000 behind. Lee then announces, "I'm all in," sending a visibly frustrated Marcus into the tank.

After a bit of head shaking, Marcus folds a pair of jacks face up on the table, drawing several "Ooh's" and "Aww's" from the rail. "Nice laydown," Watkinson told Marcus, as he turned over A-6 for what would've been a larger full house.

Watkinson Takes the Lead

After stringing together a few nice pots, Lee Watkinson has recently overtaken the chip lead from fellow American Tom "Durrrr" Dwan and is currently sitting with 217,000 in chips. Dwan owns the second largest stack with 156,000.

Van Marcus Doubles Up

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs} Van Marcus tosses his remaining 11,000 chips into the middle and Mike Sexton deliberates before making the call.

Marcus: {8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Sexton: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The turn and river come {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Marcus survives the all in confrontation to double up!

Van Marcus Doubles Up Again

Van Marcus has doubled up once again, this time through Lee Watkinson.

With all the money in pre-flop Marcus held {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and held the lead over Watkinson's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

The board ran out {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and the aces of Marcus held up to scoop a very healthy pot!

Marcus screamed in delight - "I'm not going anywhere!"

Mike Sexton Doubles

The money went all in on the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} with Mike Sexton holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{5-Clubs} against Lee Watkinson's {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}.

The {9-Spades} on the turn and {10-Diamonds} on the river made Sexton a straight and he doubles up to around 75,000 chips as Watkinson takes another hit.

Players Feeling The Strain?

Tonight's final table has been running for close to six hours now and we've only seen four eliminations in that time! Players (and some reporters..!) are starting to feel the strain of the long day, and you get the feeling that the way these guys are playing we've still got a long way to go!

A-A-X-X

Van Marcus raised it up pre-flop to 14,000 and the table folded as Van showed A-A-X-X.

Showing your cards when you have aces seems to be a common trend on tonight's final table!

Mark Kassis Eliminated in 5th Place (AU$41,280)

Mark Kassis - 5th Place
Mark Kassis - 5th Place
Mark Kassis was left with only 14,000 chips after folding his way through much of the evening. He found a hand to push with and Lee Watkinson made the call.

Kassis: {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Watkinson: {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} to give Watkinson a full house and eliminate Mark Kassis after a great tournament in 5th place for a pay day of $41,280.
