Jaka Coolers Opponent

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Faraz Jaka flopped middle set.
Faraz Jaka flopped middle set.

Faraz Jaka bet 2,800 from under the gun after a flop of {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. A player on the button made it 6,500, and Lee Childs, who had checked out of the big blind, bumped it to 10,700. That wasn't big enough for Jaka, who made it 15,800. The button pushed all in covering both opponents, and Childs quickly folded.

Jaka called immediately and turned over {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for middle set. The button showed {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for bottom set, and the {q-Clubs} and {k-Spades} hit the board on the last two streets. Jaka had about 56,000 total on the flop, and the button was forced to double him up.

You've Just Been Krunked

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Robert Panitch on Day 2 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event
Robert Panitch on Day 2 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event

With the flop of {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} already spread, Robert "Uncle Krunk" Panitch watched Matthew Parry lead into him for a bet of 8,500.

Panitch - who you may remember from his appearance at the final table of the WSOP Circuit National Championship last year - was not impressed though, and he raised to 19,000 to put the pressure back on Parry.

The poker world learned that Panitch is player back when he finished in 3rd place against a table filled with feared young pros. So when Parry saw the sizable raise thrown his way, he went into the tank to figure things out. Eventually he decided to take a look at the turn, and after flatting he saw fourth street bring the {8-Hearts} to the board.

Parry decided to check to the raiser, and the man affectionately known to his friends on the circuit as "Uncle Krunk" lived up to his nickname, making it 20,000 to play.

Parry tanked again at the sight of four baby blue T5000 chips being tossed into the middle, but after a minute or so of deliberation he made the call. On the {q-Clubs} river Parry checked it again, only to hear Panitch announce a bet of 50,000 with force in his voice. Despite another lengthy tank, Parry opted to muck his hand and surrender the pot, preserving his 130,000 while wondering if he had bluffed by a man 40 years his senior.

Linster Folds for a Fraction

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante
Mike Linster folded for just 25 on the river.
Mike Linster folded for just 25 on the river.

Anthony Gurciullo just took the post-oak bluff to new heights.

He check-raised for 11,300, leaving himself 25 behind, on a board of {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

"There's too much out there," Mike Linster, who had fired 3,300, said. He called.

"Hold on, he's not all in," Linster said after someone asked them to table their hands. "I could still fold on the river."

The dealer burned and turned the {6-Diamonds}, and Gurciullo tossed his last green chip out there.

"I fold," Linster said immediately.

"Really?" someone asked.

"Yes, I fold," Linster said with a laugh. He showed the {10-Hearts}, saying he had missed a combo draw. Gurciullo showed {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of nines, taking the pot.

Kelsall Climbing Higher

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante
Andrew Kelsall on Day 2 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event
Andrew Kelsall on Day 2 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event

Andrew Kelsall just crossed the 300,000 plateau and the experienced tournament player may just have the biggest stack in the room.

Kelsall is no stranger to building big leads here at the Borgata Winter Poker Open, after taking the Day 2 chip lead in the Six-Max event earlier in the week.

Although Kelsall fell short of the final table in that event, finishing in 12th place for a $4,324 score, he showed that he knows how to use an early lead to make a deep run. We'll see if he can do the same here today, against a stacked field filled with top flight pros.
