Choi Takes a Bite Out of Kaverman

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Byron Kaverman couldn't complete his draw.
Byron Kaverman couldn't complete his draw.

Bryan Choi opened for 23,000 in the hijack, and Byron Kaverman raised to 66,000 from the small blind. Choi made the call, and the two saw a flop of {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Kaverman continuation-bet 63,000, and Choi raised to 126,000.

"All in," Kaverman said very quietly. He repeated himself when the dealer asked him to clarify. Choi called right away.

Choi: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Kaverman: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Both players had flopped big, but Kaverman needed to improve to catch Choi's set. Neither the {j-Hearts} nor the {k-Spades} did it for him, and He lost more than half of his remaining chips to Choi.

Rough Rugged and Raw

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ronit Chamani on Day 3 of the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event Championship
Ronit Chamani on Day 3 of the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event Championship

Ronit Chamani is best known for her contributions to the raw food culinary scene, but the South African poker player has made a splash on the felt as of late.

Chamani has nearly $300,000 in career live tourney earnings, and she is likely to push across that mark here today, as she currently holds a stack of more than 800,000. This continues a nice run for Chamani in WPT events, after she final tabled the WPT Main Event held in Johannesburg, South Africa - finishing in 6th place while representing her homeland in admirable fashion. She also has enjoyed success at this Borgata Winter Poker Open, recording an 11th place finish for $4,342 in the Six-Max event.

You can learn more about Chamani and her passion for raw food by taking a look at this Stay Stacked video featuring Lynn Gilmartin, and we'll track her progress throughout the night to if she continues her impressive performance here on Day 3, in an attempt to make second WPT Main Event final table in four months.

Harrison Gimbel on Day 3 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship
Harrison Gimbel on Day 3 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship

A short-stacked player on the button shoved over a raise from Harrison Gimbel in the hijack. It was 121,000 to call, and Gimbel thought for a bit before splashing some orange T1000 into the pot.

Gimbel: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Button: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Gimbel had busted the unfortunate shorty after outflopping him.

With PokerNews proudly delivering coverage of the entire slate of 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open events, we thought new readers following the coverage could use a quick primer on the live blog's set-up and structure.

The red tabs on the screen allow you to navigate between PokerNews' live blogging coverage - which includes hand recaps, player interviews, chip count updates, photos and all the rest - and the site's other extremely useful features.

If you prefer to simply scan the chip counts to see how your favorite players are faring, clicking the red tab titled "Chip Counts" will take you to a list screen with updated chip counts for the players we have information for. Those using the MyStack app from the table can always add their counts to this page through their smartphones, so if you don't see who you're searching for in the counts, have them download MyStack and update their progress as the day continues.

The "Player Updates" tab is next, and this tool allows you to see how notable players and top pros have been faring lately, with arrows showing if they have been climbing or falling in the counts.

Finally, if you just want to soak in the scene from the floor of the Borgata, click on the "Photo Gallery" tab to take a look at a gallery of photos taken throughout the day.

Combining the "Live Reporting" coverage PokerNews strives to provide with these three tabs is the best way to enjoy our continued coverage of the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open, because you can follow along in the way you prefer. If you like the stories emerging from the event, stick with the "Live Reporting" tab to read all about the goings on here from the floor. If chip count tracking is what you prefer, the "Chip Counts" tab is the perfect way to track the tournament. When you're only interested in a particular player's progress, the "Player Updates" tab will keep you're coverage centralized. And if you just like seeing your favorite players do their thing, the "Photo Gallery" tab takes you on a visual tour of the tournament as it happens.

Jaka Gets Value With Top-Two

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Faraz Jaka Has Owned His Table on Day 3
Faraz Jaka Has Owned His Table on Day 3

The board read {3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades} by the river and a huge pot was already piled in the middle, when Faraz Jaka made it 90,000 to go.

His opponent only held about 120,000 in his stack, but he paid the bet off nonetheless, only to see Jaka reveal the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for two pair. The other player could not produce a set or straight, and the vast majority of his stack was cut apart, piece by piece, before being slid across the table to Jaka.

Jaka has owned one of the biggest stacks in the room for the last level or two, and he continues to roll over his table like a man on a mission.

Will Laz Hernandez become a legend?
Will Laz Hernandez become a legend?

Laz Hernandez called an opponent's shove before the flop.

Hernandez: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Opponent: {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}

Hernandez was in just about the most dominating preflop position possible, and the board came down {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

"The legend continues," Hernandez said. "Naw, just kidding, I don't want to jinx myself."
