Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy Just Went Bust Early on Day 3

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy let his friends and followers know that a final table run was not in the cards here today, as he just went bust. According to Josephy, his {A-}{10-} failed to win a flip against Brian Lemke's {8-}{8-}.

The Lazmanian Devel

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Laz Hernandez is a Juggernaut
Laz Hernandez is a Juggernaut

Laz Hernandez bagged up 50,000 more than his closest competitor after Day 1, and he topped the counts once again last night.

Today, the big-stacked big man continued his rampage, pushing over the million dollar mark in the first level of play.

Hernandez faced an all-in bet of 125,000 holding the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and with more than enough chips to afford a little gambling, he called the bet to force a coin flip against {9-}{9-}.

As Hernandez relayed to us during a recent pass by his table, the board rolled out with two tens and a jack to fill him up, and with a few more pots added in along the way, Hernandez seems to show no signs of slowing down.

Massey Makes it Happen

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Aaron Massey
Aaron Massey

After an open from under the gun by Byron Kaverman, fellow pro Aaron Massey three-bet to 23,000, only to see Kaverman move all in over the top for the four-bet.

Massey decided to call of his last 122,500 holding {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} and he was racing against Kaverman's {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

The flop of {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} missed Massey, but the {k-Spades} on the turn was the card he needed. After the {10-Spades} completed the board on the river Massey doubled through Kaverman to effectively equal their stacks.

Larry Legend

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We missed the betting that preceded Larry Ormson's double through Anthony Maio, but watched as Ormson tabled {A-Spades}{a-Hearts} on the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board.

Maio saw that his opponent had found aces in the hole, and by the way he angrily flung his cards into the muck it would seem he held an overpair to the board as well. In any event, Maio shipped a chunk of his stack to the next seat over, while Ormson doubled up to remain in contention for the cash as the money bubble approaches.

Guagenti Forces Best Hand to Fold, Gets Called by Worst

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Nick Guagenti is Hanging Around Here on Day 3
Nick Guagenti is Hanging Around Here on Day 3

Nick Guagenti was pacing around the table when we last saw him, excited after a recent double up so close to the cash.

According to Guagenti, he found {6-}{6-} in the hole while riding a 93,000 short stack, and he moved all in over the top of a 11,000 open from the hijack.

The big blind player decided to call off holding {a-}{q-}, and the original raiser tanked for a while before folding what he claimed to be {9-}{9-}.

Guagenti's pocket pair held up against the overcards when the board ran out {8-}{8-}{3-}{4-}{k-}, and he now has enough chips to grind the fast approaching money bubble.

Jattin Shows a Bluff

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Farid Jattin on Day 3 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event
Farid Jattin on Day 3 of the 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event

Farid Jattin called a bet of 30,500 on the turn with the board reading {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. After the {3-Hearts} came on the river, Jattin's opponent fired 100,000, leaving only about 50,000 behind. Jattin thought for about two minutes before moving all in. His opponent immediately tossed his cards into the muck, only to see Jattin roll over {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a missed straight draw.
