Patient Reslock Finds Aces in the Hole

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Chris Reslock's Aces Stood Up Over Jared Jaffee
Chris Reslock's Aces Stood Up Over Jared Jaffee

After a min-raise to open the pot from Jared Jaffee, veteran tournament player Chris Reslock finally made his stand after grinding a short stack for the last few orbits.

Jaffee asked for a count before making a reluctant call with {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and sure enough Reslock revealed the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} to put a hammerlock on the hand.

The flop came down {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and by the time the turn fell {5-Spades} Jaffee had already turned his cards face down and tossed them into the muck. The meaningless river card came {6-Diamonds} to make things official, and with that Reslock rebounded from the danger zone to give himself a chance to continue the grind.

Kalyan Gullapalli - 16th Place

Kalyan Gullapalli shoved over a raise from David Paredes, and Paredes made the call with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. He was against {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and all looked well for Gullapalli to double up when he flopped an ace. A {9-Spades} arrived on the river, however, improving Paredes to a set and busting his opponent.

Farid Forces Two to Fold

Farid Jattin Has Dominated Day 4
Farid Jattin Has Dominated Day 4

Kalyan Gullapalli opened from under the gun, making it 90,000 to play, and chip leader Farid Jattin came along with a call from middle position. David Paredes decided to apply some pressure with a three-bet from the hijack, and he reraised to 305,000.

After Gullapalli smooth called the sizable bet, Jattin used his big stack to be the bully and he moved all in to force both opponent's to a test for their tournament lives.

The power play worked to perfection and Jattin extended his chip lead with raw aggression.

Paredes: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Wasserson: {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

No improvement came for Wasserson on the {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} board, and Paredes busted him in 17th.

Aristedes Santana - 18th Place ($20,961)

After an opening raise to 90,000, Bryan Choi decided to three-bet to 210,000, and with the action now on him Aristedes Santana moved all in for 430,000 total.

The original raiser got out of the way, and Choi asked for a count before making a relatively quick call. Choi tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and the race was on against Santana's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

The final board rolled out {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} to leave Santana with no pair - and no chips - while Choi clapped his hands in celebration after surviving five board cards.

A Diamond in the Rough

Tyler Patterson Just Runner-Runner Flushed Jared Jaffee's Big Slick to Double Through
Tyler Patterson Just Runner-Runner Flushed Jared Jaffee's Big Slick to Double Through

Tyler Patterson open-shoved from under the gun, moving his last 565,000 into the middle holding {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

Jared Jaffee was next to act and he looked down to find {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}, and he made the call to put his new neighbor at risk. The table folded around dutifully, and the two players showed down to find themselves in the classic coin flip situation.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to hit Jaffee's big slick with top pair, and the turn came {6-Diamonds} to keep him in the lead. When the river fell {4-Diamonds} Patterson took a second look back at his hand and said "diamonds!" before heading to his rail for a minor celebration. Jaffee had to take a second look at well, and he admitted that he never saw the diamond draw materialize, only realizing he was beat when Patterson became excited rather than dejected when the river card came down.

John Dibella - 20th Place ($17,357)
John Dibella - 20th Place ($17,357)

John Dibella was riding a short stack and he moved his last 247,000 into the middle from the small blind, coming over the top of Kunal Patel's 65,000 button raise.

Patel wasted no time in calling the vulnerable player's small all-in wager, and he tabled {k-Clubs}{7-Spades} as he did so. Dibella was out in front with his {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, but Patel's live cards came through on the {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop. Patel's pair of sevens put Dibella on the brink, and the turn ({6-Diamonds}) and river ({2-Diamonds}) failed to bring him back.

Dibella finished in 20th place and collected a $17,357 payout for the deep run.

Byron Kaverman Eliminated in 21st Place ($17,357)

Level 26 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Byron Kaverman - 21st Place ($17,357)
Byron Kaverman - 21st Place ($17,357)

Byron Kaverman opened the betting for a 65,000 raise from under the gun, and chip leader Farid Jattin came along from the hijack.

After the dealer fanned the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop, Kaverman c-bet for 77,000, only to see Jattin raise the action up to 256,000.

Kaverman tanked for about three minutes while working through whatever it is the game's wizards think about during these intense moments, and after a lengthy period of thought he three-bet to 439,000. Jattin took some time to think as well, but after just thirty seconds or so he moved all in, putting Kaverman to the test.

This development left Kaverman looking displeased with the spot he found himself in, but eventually he called off for his last 1 million or so and tabled {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for an up-and-down straight draw.

Despite all of the aggression he displayed in the raising war, Jattin only held {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a no-pair hand, and Kaverman now held thirteen outs when he may have been drawing dead. The added lifelines failed to save him though, as the board bricked out on fourth street ({3-Clubs}) and fifth ({10-Clubs}).

Kaverman hit the rail in 21st place for a $17,357 score, while Jattin strengthened his chip lead to over 6 million.
