Rutter Doubles Through

Stuart Rutter has doubled through and is now on over 20,000 in chips. With multiple limpers, he made it 1,200 to go from the small blind with pocket tens, and received one caller. On an 8-4-2 rainbow flop, he led out for 2,500 hoping his opponent would be tempted into making a move. That's exactly what happened. His opponent pushed with K-Q, Rutter called, and subsequently survived a harmless turn and river. Job done.

Tim Vance Eliminated

EPT Copenhagen Champion Tim Vance
EPT Copenhagen Champion Tim Vance
A short-stacked Tim Vance opened for 700 from the hijack and the button called. The flop was {10-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. Vance led out for 2,000 and the button called. The turn came the {K-Hearts} and after eyeing his opponent's chip stack for a moment, he moved all in. The button made the call.

In a massive cooler of a hand, Vance turned up {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} for a set, but his opponent flopped a higher set with {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. The {9-Clubs} on the river changed nothing and Vance rapped the table with a "nice hand, sir" and quickly made his exit.

Sander Hits the Bunker

On a {K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} board, reigning champion Sander Lylloff led out for 2,100, only to be raised all in by Eric Koskas who shoved his entire stack of 13,000 over the line.

"You could have K-T," pondered Lylloff as the press edged closer.

With around 8,000 behind, Lylloff eventually opted for the fold, and was shown {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for his troubles.

Several hands later, Lylloff's seat was empty, there were no chips at the felt, and the Dane was spotted trundling dejectedly towards the press room. Now I'm no Columbo, but I think he's out.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated

The trick to finding a big hand is looking out for those expensive red chips in the middle, but sometimes it's simply not necessary. Whether it's the rasping, yet booming voice of Tim Vance, the shark invasion of Humberto Brenes, or the "Yeah, baby" of Scotty Nguyen, there are a number of surefire ways of spotting a big pot from afar.

One of those is the mere presence of Daniel Negreanu. If he so much as scratches his derriere, the onlooking crowd will close in to see the scratching action unfold. If he's all in, however, they'll well and truly swamp the table!

Although I arrived slightly late, Arnaud Mattern (my get out clause if my information is incorrect) filled me in on all the gory details. "Negreanu min-raised to 300," he began, "only to be called in about four spots. On the {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, Daniel led out for 800. His neighbor made it 2,400, Daniel pushed, and his opponent called."

On their backs, and Daniel was in trouble against {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}, but not dead with {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. However, no further clubs arrived, and Kid Poker was gone.

William Thorson Gets Easy Double Up

William Thorson
William Thorson
Action folded around to the button who raised to 450. William Thorson, playing from the small blind, peeked at his cards and then tossed out 1,225. The big blind quickly folded and the button went into the tank.

With a look of contemplation and body language suggesting not calling, but folding or raising, he eventually pushed enough chips out to put Thorson all in. Thorson quickly called for a total of 4,150. The players showed:

Thorson: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Opponent: {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

The button was drawing dead by the turn and Thorson is now sitting on about 8,500 chips.

Staggered Dinner Breaks

Like yesterday, the players will be taking a staggered dinner break. Tables 1-15 will get their chance to eat from 7-8 p.m. followed by Tables 15-30 from 8:15-9:15 p.m.

Negreanu Finds His Form

Daniel Negreanu

After a limp from under the gun, an early position player raised to 525. A middle position player made the call as did Daniel Negreanu from the cutoff seat. The limper passed and the three players saw the {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Spades} flop.

Action checked around and the dealer put the {K-Hearts} on the turn. Again, no one bet and the {3-Spades} hit the river. Action checked to Negreanu and he confidently tossed out 800. He got one caller and Kid Poker tabled {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. His opponent mucked and the Canadian stacked the pot. He is currently sitting on a stack of just under 11,000.

Mats Rahmn Wins Without a Showdown

Mats Rahmn
Mats Rahmn
After an early position player limped in to the pot, Mats Rahmn raised to 650. The cutoff seat called, and after the blinds folded, the limper came along as well.

The three players saw a flop of {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {8-Clubs} and action checked to the cutoff who bet 400. The limper and Rahmn called and the {7-Spades} hit the turn. After a check by the limper, Rahmn led out for 2,000. The cutoff passed but the early position player made the call.

The river fell the {4-Hearts} and it was again checked to Rahmn. He bet another 2,000 and after a lengthy deliberation, his opponent thought the better of it. Rahmn took down the pot and his cards remain a mystery.

Super Smoke

Eric Mizrachi
Eric Mizrachi
Remember those candy sticks you used to buy as a kid to pretend you were smoking? Well, no longer are they the worthiest substitute on the market as our intrepid photographer perfectly captures the new 'super smoke' in action.

Apparently, this pseudo cigarette acts just like a normal cigarette, and even supplies the user with the necessary nicotine kick, but unlike normal smoke, the 'super smoke' disappears within moments of exhaling, thus keeping the air fresh and clean.

I haven't seen it in action myself, so please forgive me if I am having my proverbial leg pulled.
