Kravchenko Exits

Snoopy models the metal detector.
Snoopy models the metal detector.
Going through the metal detector, I saw Pokerstars player Alex Kravchenko leaving the other way, his face covered with a look as miserable as a rainy night in Bognor Regis. Using my remarkable powers of deductive reasoning, I would guess he could well be out...

Medic Makes Manuel

Nenad Medic raised to 850 from early position and Manuel Bevand reraised to 2,700 from midposition. Juha Helppi gave a long hard cold Finnish stare at the Frenchman before folding and it was passed back around to Medic. The bracelet-winner thought for about a minute before reraising to 6,400 and Bevand called.

The flop was {Q-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Spades} and Medic bet around half his remaining stack, and the chips went in between the pair of them quicker than Snoopy dashing to McDonalds during the break. Medic turned over {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} but was in hot water against Bevand's {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}. No help for the Canadian on the turn and river and he's gone.

And yes, I am very proud of that headline.

A Maniac on the Floor

Willie Fry
Willie Fry
The man Stuart Rutter previously labeled "a maniac" is now out, EPT Budapest winner Willie Fry having raised to 800 {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} in the small blind, been reraised by the big blind and called all in for his remaining 2,200.

The {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{A-Clubs} flop was about as good as it gets, one player even saying "He needs the {8-Diamonds} to win." Of course, after a blank hit the turn, out came the {8-Diamonds} on the river to prove that the Poker Gods truly are a devilish bunch.

"I knew I was behind, I just hoped my cards were live," said Fry afterwards, "I've played so much poker recently, I just want to chill and have some boobs?"

"Boobs?" I asked surprised.

"No, booze," he replied chuckling, "although some boobs would be nice." Just as he said the word 'boobs' a young lady walked past and stopped in her tracks, a slight look of disgust on her face before eventually continuing on her way.

Roller Coaster for Moorman

Chris Moorman may only have 4,300, but he's still smiling after being down to just 1,350. "I've doubled up twice," he confessed. "Once with A-4 versus K-J and then aces versus K-Q."

Houghton Doubles Through

Laurence Houghton has doubled through. He raised with pocket kings, the big blind pushed with pocket jacks and Houghton called. The 7-9-8-2-A board changed nothing, leaving Houghton with an inflated stack of 25,000.

Timex Has Good Timing

Mike 'Timex' McDonald bets out 1,050 on a {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} flop and gets called. On the {6-Hearts} turn, he moves in for his remaining 3,700 and is quickly called by {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} but Timex had already flopped a set with {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and avoids the 1-outer on the {5-Spades} river to put him back over 10,000.

Meanwhile, I have to say I'm very disappointed at the lack of Futurama-based references to Will Fry. Fry himself doesn't seem too disappointed, he's off playing Guitar Hero in the Players Lounge.

Mr X Leads the Way

With the running antes kicking in, a few big stacks have started to emerge as potential chip leaders. Whilst French trio Vikash Dhorasso, Antony Lellouche and Manuel Bevand are running well with 33,500, 45,500 and 52,000 respectively, former WPT winner Christer Johansson is also looking dangerous with 42,500.

Other stacks of note include Praz Bansi on 39,000, Marcel Baron on 50,000 and Frederik Nygard on 62,000, but your current chip leader is...

drum roll please, maestro

... Mr X with 63,000.

Yes, he is refusing to reveal his name, much to the disgruntlement of PokerStars.
