Another Failed Bluff

Ludovic Lacay
Ludovic Lacay
With 2,000 chips in the pot from pre-flop action, four players saw a {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop. All checked to the cutoff who bet 1,100. Ludovic Lacay made it 3,600 from the big blind and the rest got out of the way. The turn was {8-Hearts} and Ludovic bet 3,200 which was all the cutoff had left. The cutoff did not look happy but called anyway.

Ludovic: {K-Spades}{3-Spades}
Cutoff: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The river was the {4-Hearts} and the cutoff won with ace high.

Todd Brunson Runs Into Quads

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson
Action folded around to Todd Brunson in middle position. He raised to 400. A player one seat off the cutoff put in a re-raise to 800 which Brunson casually called. The flop came down {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Both players checked. The {9-Spades} hit the turn and Brunson fired 1,000 at the pot. His opponent thought for a bit before finally throwing in a blue chip. The river was the {5-Diamonds}. Brunson tapped the felt and his opponent threw in a 1,000 in the most casual way possible. Brunson made the crying call and his opponent flipped over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Brunson mucked emotionless and is now down to 6,300 chips.

Isabelle Mercier Makes a Big Fold

Isabelle Mercier
Isabelle Mercier
We caught up to this hand on the flop. Isabelle Mercier was in the small blind playing heads up against a late position opponent. The board read {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and there was 1,050 in the pot. Mercier bet 2,000 and her opponent raised her 3,000 more. She went into the tank a while but eventually mucked her hand angrily and stood up and walked away for a bit. Her frustration is not unfounded as this is far from the first time today she's been re-raised in a big pot and had to fold.

Antonio Esfandiari Still Running Good

Action folded around to a middle position player who raised to 500. Immediately next to act was Antonio Esfandiari and he made the call. The small blind moved all in for a total of 1,075. The initial raiser called and Esfandiari re-raised to 3,850. The raiser folded and it was Esfandiari heads up against the all in player. They showed:

Esfandiari: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent:{A-Spades}{J-Spades}

The board blanked for both men and The Magician's A-Q high was best. He sent another player to the rail and took his stack over the 30,000 mark.

Anthony Chatelain
T6 poker player Anthony Chatelain made it 450 and the big blind asked him how much he had left (5,500) before calling. The flop came down T-J-Q and Anthony bet 1,000. The big blind moved all in and Anthony insta-called. The big blind had flopped a straight with 8-9 but Anthony's K-K was still live. He missed his outs on the turn and river though and was eliminated from the tournament.

Tony G Takes One Down

Tony G
Tony G
With the flop dealt out {A-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts} and 1,000 chips in the pot, Tony G checked his option in the small blind. The cutoff made it 1,000 and then had some food for thought when Tony made it 3,500. Eventually he folded and Tony G now has 16,500 chips.

Daniel Negreanu Takes Down a Good Sized Pot

Daniel Negreanu Builds His Stack
Daniel Negreanu Builds His Stack
Action folded around to Daniel Negreanu in late position. He raised to 350. All others folded to the big blind who re-raised to 950. Negreanu made the call and the two men saw a flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}. The big blind bet 1,300 and Negreanu called. Fourth street was the {4-Diamonds} and the big blind threw 3,000 of his remaining 7,475 across the betting line. Negreanu pushed out more than enough chips to put his opponent all in. He thought for upwards of three minutes before finally folding. He is now up to a healthy 21,000.

Marco Traniello Eliminated

Marco Traniello Eliminated
Specific details are unclear, but Marco Traniello has been eliminated from the tournament. In the words of the player who busted him: "It was a four way pot, I had top pair, Marco had a flush draw." It is safe to assume the flush draw never got there and the Italian hairstylist turned professional poker player was an early Day1b casualty.

Glannbro Made to Sweat

With a flop dealt out {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and 2,000 chips in from pre-flop action between 4 players, Andreas Glannbro bet 1,800 when both the blinds checked. Stuart Rutter quickly folded on the cutoff but both the blinds dwelled for at least two minutes each before folding. Andreas quickly raked in the chips letting out a deep breath at the same time.
