Juanda Gives A Little To Gain A Little

As fields go for EPT's, this one certainly looks to be amongst the richest in terms of the so-called 'big players'. There's not a table you can go by without seeing at least one winner of a bracelet or a major tournament and it's rare that you'll see a table without two.

John Juanda, last year's WSOPE winner, was staring at a {J-Spades} {4-Spades} {4-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} board, attempting to coax his opponent to go easy.

"You show, I show..." Juanda said, but his opponent bet 4,000. Juanda flipped {K-Spades} {10-Spades} for a missed flush draw with a turned gutshot and was rewarded by being allowed to see the {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} that his opponent had.

Trickett Loses Most Of Stack In Hand 1...

Sam Trickett recounted the tale of how he lost most of his chips in the very first hand after getting involved in a multiway pot with {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts}.

Everyone checked a {K-?} {10-?} {6-?} flop before Trickett bet 600 on the {8-?} turn, he was raised to 1,600 and made the call.

The river was the {J-?} and Trickett raised a 3,200 bet to 9,200 only to find himself min-reraised back. He made the call only to find his opponent holding {A-?} {Q-?}.

"And I rushed to get to the table for the hand as well..." laughed Trickett.

Minieri Will Not Be Required to Lift the Trophy This Week

Yup, that's right -- Dario Minieri no longer needs to worry about whether his arms are up to the challenge, as he's busto already.

It seems he reraised with that classic reraising hand {5-?} {8-?} and naturally got three callers. He then proceeded to get his whole stack in when he flopped an open-ended straight draw, but he got called by a gent holding top two pair, failed to hit the turn or river, and instead hit the rail before lunchtime.
