Egemo on His Face

Christoffer Egemo, somehow reduced to shrapnel, moved in under the gun with {3-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and found a caller with a vastly superior hand. We don't know what that hand was, though, as when we arrived at the table the other player's hand was in the muck and the pot was already being pushed over to Egemo who had made a straight on the {4-?} {10-?} {2-?} X {5-?} board.

He got his new, improved 18,000 stack in again next hand from the big blind to an early position raise from Mitesh Anjaria with the even worse {5-Spades} {2-Hearts} and looked like he might do it again -- but Anjaria's {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} won in the end and Egemo is out."Welcome to this ugly world of poker, man," said Anjaria.

Board: {4-Hearts} {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Boosted Busted

Justin "BoostedJ" Smith is out. We're not sure what happened, but David Rawnsley was stacking chips and looking pleased with himself.

Annette Extends Lead

Fearsome
Fearsome
Annette Obrestad raised to 16,000 from the cutoff and Raymond Wu called from the button; [Removed:40] in the small blind, however, pushed all in. Obrestad reraised, Wu got out of their way, and they were on their backs.

Vitagliano: {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Obrestad: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

Board: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} {2-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}

We are down one Italian; Obrestad meanwhile extends her chip lead and looks to be over 900,000.

JP Kelly Might Not Win

Hmm, don't like that flop
Hmm, don't like that flop
Two-time bracelet winner JP Kelly, fresh off WSOPE victory, is down to 135,000 after doubling up Adam York.

Kelly (button): {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
York (small blind): {3-?} {3-?}

The pocket threes flopped a set and rivered a full house while Kelly sighed.

Wu-King Good

Raymond Wu has extricated himself from a tricky spot after getting Lorenz Roder all-in preflop. Wu held {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} against Roder's {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} but the board came {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} and Roder was eliminated.

Heavy Defeat For The Green Party

Eric Haik raised to 21,500 preflop and David La Ronde pushed all-in for his last 40,000 or so. Brian Green then reraised all-in behind from the blinds and Haik tanked.

Eventually he made the call with a surprisingly strong {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, La Ronde meekily cried for an ace as he turned over {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Green showed {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}.

The board came {J-Spades} {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {7-Hearts} and Haik jumped out his chair and celebrated with a loud "Yes!" as the rest of the table looked slightly bemused.

Green and La Ronde were eliminated as a result.
