Power Poker, by LarsLuzak

In true Scandi fashion, Sami Kelopuro is playing some very aggressive poker today. There were already 20,000 chips in the pot on the turn of a {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} board. Kelopuro had position on his lone opponent and had made a bet of 11,000 chips. His opponent tanked for one minute before giving up the ghost, allowing Kelopuro to increase his count to approximately 75,000.

Saab Doubles Up, Very Loudly

Saab - woo!
Saab - woo!
There was a raise to 2,200 under the gun, and it folded around to David Saab who sighed and dropped his remaining 15,000 in the middle. Back around to the raiser, who thought about it for a while. Eventually, a call.

Saab: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Under the gun: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Saab: "Flop me an ace! Flop me an ace right away!"

Flop: {Q-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {10-Hearts}

Saab: "Come on, dude!"

Turn: {5-Spades}

Saab: "Even a jack is fine."

River: {K-Hearts}

Saab: "A king is fine too. Woo!"

Saab on a little over 30,000 now.

Asa Smith: 43,000
Constant Rijkenburg: 40,000

Kang Can't Believe His Luck

A late position player raised Benjamin Kang's big blind to 3,000. Kang looked down at {K-Hearts} {k-Clubs} and quickly shipped in his whole stack. His opponent called all in for less, a total of 12,000, with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. Kang clenched and shook his hands in frustration when the flop came down {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades}. He had outs to a king or a jack, but the turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river was the {5-Diamonds}. Kang was left to shake his head and stare up at the ceiling, asking the poker gods why they hate him.

Kang retains 21,000 chips.

No Singing, Just a Double-Up for Luske

Speaking of players staring at the ceiling, David Eldar joined those ranks after an entertaining hand with Marcel Luske. Eldar raised preflop to 2,000 and was called, in position, by Luske. Eldar followed up with a flop bet of 2,000 that Luske quickly called, the board showing {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {3-Spades}. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn. On the river {q-Spades}, Eldar tanked for more than a minute before betting 4,700. Luske was much quicker to raise all in for 11,300 total.

Eldar's face went through a series of expressions that could only be described as comical. Puzzlement, frustration and outright bewilderment rippled across his face in rapid succession. His curiosity finally got the better of him; he shipped in a call and mucked upon being shown Luske's spade flush, {7-Spades} {6-Spades}.

Luske is up to 32,000.

Martin Clawing Back

Martin - doesn't like the look of that tracksuit
Martin - doesn't like the look of that tracksuit
Michael Martin came back today with just 8,700 and has built his stack up to 19,000 since then. No big double ups, though -- "I moved all in loads of times on my first table, but never got called."

He's got a pretty tough table now, though. He's sandwiched between John O'Shea and Irish Open final tabler, and tracksuit enthusiast, Jani Vilmunen.

Hey Look! It's Marco Traniello!

Ok. We're in a country full of Italians. And we're not Italian. Not a one of us. So you can forgive us if, in a country full of Italians, we miss an Italian or two. It's like that old joke -- they all look the same to us. That's not really true, of course, but we have no other excuse for why we didn't notice Marco Traniello in the field yesterday.

We did notice him today, rocking an incredibly short stack. He got that stack of about 6,000 chips in the middle from under the gun and was called by the cutoff player. The cutoff showed down {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} and was shocked -- as was everyone else watching the hand -- to see Traniello turn over {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. It was all over by the turn of a board that came down {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {K-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Traniello doubled to 14,000 and, more importantly, is back on our radar screen.

Chip Counts

Movin' on up -- Sami Kelopuro and Marcin Horecki. Kelopuro has cracked six figures with 103,000. Horecki is right behind him with 94,000 after taking out a player with pocket kings. That player had reraised all in with pocket fours preflop, then slammed a coffee mug to the floor and kicked over a service table on his way out of the tournament. "We must be in Italy," a Scandi player at the table joked.

Sliding down a bit -- Kent Hunter, at 51,000.

Holding steady -- Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick, at 31,000.
