Curious Hand - Danielsson Has the Upper Hand

Akenhead - not happy
Akenhead - not happy
Jonas Danielsson raised in the cutoff, but on the button James Akenhead reraised to 7,600. It folded back around to Danielsson, who made it 13,600; after a moment's thought, Akenhead called.

They saw a {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} flop, and Danielsson bet out a suspiciously small 5,500. Without any hesitation, Akenhead folded, leaving himself with 33,000 in chips. Danielsson, meanwhile, is up to over 50,000.

Going Up

Day 1a chip leader Dragan Galic started the day as the only player over the 100,000 mark on exactly 107,800 -- and he has now become the first player to smash the 200,000 mark as well.

Not sure how he got the bulk of those, but just now he made a player fold pocket eights face up on a {J-?} {J-?} X {5-?} X board; Galic showed him {A-?} {5-?} and a long argument ensued concerning whether Galic had said "I hit" or "a jack" (Galic insisted he'd said "I hit"). Either way, Galic has now amassed a terrifying 248,000 stack. Fear the Dragan!

Going Down

Asa Smith, who started the day on around 75,000, is now down to a mere 20,000 and looking very dejected.

Also, Almira Skripchenko is now out.

Also Going Up, Though Not As Up As Galic

Arnaud Mattern, on 11,000 this morning, is now master of 75,000 in chips. "I had kings," he said. Turns out that he got his kings involved in a three-way hand involving a gent with {A-?} {K-?} and another gent with pocket queens. "And now I have chips," Mattern explained.

Also up, Mr. Marcin Horecki is now on 101,000, and Liam Flood is up to 36,000 from his starting stack of 13,000 this morning.
