Eldar High on the Hog

David Eldar is flying up the chip counts. He found himself in a preflop raising war with Fabio Zappietro that ended with Eldar all in for 233,500 chips. Zappietro was in there with more than that but with the worse hand: his {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} was dominated by Eldar's {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. There was a king, but no queen, on a flop of {3-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {7-Clubs}. Eldar's top pair, top kicker held up with two more blanks: the {2-Spades} on the turn and the {5-Clubs} on the river. His chip count has grown to roughly 480,000.

Respect Your Eldars

A full double up for young Australian David Eldar, all in with {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} against a now-crippled Maurilio Mergiotti's {A-Clubs} {7-Hearts}.

Board: a very decisive {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds}

Eldar: 230,000
Mergiotti: not much more than 30,000

Luigi Abiuses His Position

Fitzgerald Urquhart raised from the cutoff, and then called a small blind push from Luigi Abiusi.

Urquhart: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}
Abiusi: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}

Board: {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {6-Spades} {K-Clubs}

"YESSS!!!" bellowed Abiusi, and there followed more grandstanding than seemed really necessary for someone who was so ahead when the chips went in. Urquhart just laughed and paid up.

Abiusi: 115,000
Urquhart: 200,000

Bovini Holds On as Long as Possible

Jonas Morch Sorensen opened all in for 72,000 from middle position. Action passed to the small blind, and shortest stack left in the field, Gianluca Bovini. Despite not being on a pay jump, Bovini decided to wait as long as he could before calling. He was counted down by a floor person all the way to one second then quickly shipped in his 8,500 chips. His {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts} was dominated by Sorensen's {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. Sorensen rivered a straight to knock out Bovini.

Don't have a cow, man. Bovini still walks away with some prize money.

Maceiras Knackered

Maceiras - hasn't shaved all week
Maceiras - hasn't shaved all week
Juan Maceiras pushed for 47,000 with {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, and found himself coinflipping against Gianluca Salzano's {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}.

An exciting flop, but an uneventful turn and river later and we are down one Spaniard.

Board: {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
