Back At It

The players are back at the table to continue the final table. Here's how the counts look going into Level 23.

Oleksandr Vaserfirer - 2,850,000
Luca Pagano - 990,000
Ruslan Prydryk - 658,000
Alfio Battisti - 540,000
Clayton Mozdzen - 430,000
Christophe Benzimra - 380,000

A Millie for Pagano

Action was folded around to the blinds where Luca Pagano completed and Oleksandr Vaserfirer knocked the table for a free flop.

It showed up {J-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, and Pagano fired out 45,000. Vaserfirer called, and both men would check when the {Q-Hearts} hit the turn. The river was the {K-Spades}, and it drew another leading bet from Pagano, 80,000 this time. Vaserfirer took just a brief pause before making the call.

Pagano tabled {K-Hearts} {10-Spades}, and his pair of kings was good enough to take down the pot and move him up over the million-chip mark.

No Call from Pagano

Luca Pagano made it 65,000 to play from the hijack seat, and Clayton Mozdzen moved all in for 298,000 from the small blind. Pagano couldn't make the call, and he sent his cards back to the muck.

Mozden earns a big increase relative to his stack, now just shy of 400,000. Pagano has slipped back just under a million.

Clayton Mozdzen Eliminated in 6th Place (233,750 PLN)

Clayton Mozdzen - 6th Place
Clayton Mozdzen - 6th Place
Clayton Mozdzen opened the pot to 70,000 from early position, and Alfio Battisti wanted to play for more. The other Supernova Elite at the table three-bet to 176,000, drawing an all-in four bet from Mozdzen. Battisti instantly called to put his opponent on the ropes.

Showdown
Mozdzen: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Battisti: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

The flop came {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} to leave Mozden drawing dead to two running cards. The {7-Clubs} on the turn was of no use, sealing his fate as the 6th-place finisher. A meaningless {3-Diamonds} filled out the board, the last one of Clayton Mozdzen's day. That's all she wrote for the mid-tournament chip leader; he'll walk away with 233,750 PLN for his efforts this week.

Pagano Back To a Million

Luca Pagano and Oleksandr Vaserfirer saw a flop in an unraised pot small blind versus big blind. Pagano was first on the flop of {8-Spades} {7-Spades} {6-Spades} and checked. Vaserfirer bet 24,000 and Pagano called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}. Pagano check-called a bet of 50,000 from the chip leader, Vaserfirer.

After the river came the {8-Hearts}, Pagano counted out 120,000 and slid the bet into the middle. Vaserfirer folded right away and Pagano won the hand.

By scooping that pot, Pagano moved to over one million chips, sitting at 1.070 million.

Benzimra Moving in Twice

Oleksandr Vaserfirer raised to 70,000 from middle position. Alfio "aLFioSn0b" Battisti called in the small blind. Acting out of the big blind was Christophe Benzimra and he moved all in for 378,000 in all. Vaserfirer quickly folded his hand, but Battisti tanked for a few minutes. HIs decision was to fold in the end and Benzimra scooped the pot. He did show the {K-Spades} to the table as he moved to about 530,000 chips.

On the very next hand, Benzimra moved all in from the small blind after Ruslan Prydryk raised to 70,000. Prydryk folded and Benzimra scooped that pot as well.

Pots Won

Over the course of this level, here's how many pots each player has won so far.

Oleksandr Vaserfirer - 8
Christophe Benzimra - 4
Luca Pagano - 4
Ruslan Prydryk - 3
Alfio "aLFioSn0b" Battisti - 3
Clayton Mozdzen (out) - 2

Ruslan Prydryk Eliminated in 5th Place (295,770 PLN)

Ruslan Prydryk - 5th Place
Ruslan Prydryk - 5th Place
Oleksandr Vaserfirer opened to 70,000 from the cutoff seat before Ruslan Prydryk three-bet it to 250,000 on the button. Alfio Battisti quickly folded his small blind, but Christophe Benzimra appeared to be toiling over a tough decision in the big. After a moment's pause, he waved both hands forward in that familiar all-in gesture, committing his final 622,000 chips to the pot.

The play was back on Vaserfirer now, and he let out a big sigh, slumping in his chair slightly. He asked for a count of Prydryk's stack as well, still looking pained. After a minute or two, Vaserfirer simply said, "Call." Prydryk had nearly half of his stack out there already, and he reluctantly called all in for a total of 620,000, putting the largest pot of the tournament up for grabs!

With two players all in, the cards were turned up:
Vaserfirer: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Prydryk: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}
Benzimra: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

"I guess I'm going to need a jack," smirked Benzimra in what would prove to be an impeccable case of dramatic foreshadowing.

The dealer ran the three flop cards out onto the board and flipped them over with the {J-Diamonds} showing right in the door like a beacon of salvation. A gasp spread along the rail as she rolled out the full flop of {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn left both of the others drawing dead to their two-out sets, but the river was a blank {K-Clubs}.

Despite getting it in with the third-best hand, Christophe Benzimra has notched a massive triple up to about 1.95 million. Don't worry about Vaserfirer; he's still the top dog with 2.15 million.

Unfortunately for Ruslan Prydryk, he has run out of chips thanks to that stunner of a pot. He'll take home fifth-place, earning himself 295,770 PLN.

Vaserfirer Getting Tricky

Oleksandr Vaserfirer limped in from the small blind and Alfio "aLFioSn0b" Battisti checked his option in the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} and Vaserfirer bet out 30,000. Battisti made the call.

The turn revealed the {9-Spades}. Both players checked before the river completed the board with the {3-Hearts}. Vaserfirer fired 50,000 and Battisti made the call.

Vaserfirer showed {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} and Battisti mucked.

Battisti went down to 960,000 while Vaserfirer moved back up to 2.15 million.
