Turner Taking Over

Priit Turner
Priit Turner
Estonian Priit Turner has charged into the chip lead, building a stack of nearly 300,000. We know his country of origin because of his stylish headband, which reads "Björn in Estonia."

Just now Jeffrey Sarwer -- a Canadian flag on his sleeve revealing his native land -- raised before the flop and both blinds called, including Turner in the BB. The flop came {J-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}. It checked to Sarwer who continued with a bet of 8,200. The small blind called, then Turner check-raised to 34,300. Sarwer went into the tank for some time, then finally emerged to fold. The small blind took his time, too, before letting go his {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} face up.

Turner now has about 295,000 as we approach the last break of the day. Sarwer has about 165,000.

Break it Up

The fourth level of the day is in the books, and we're off for the final 15-minute break of the day. We'll play one more level before bagging and tagging the chips for the night.

Back for More

The 83 remaining players have taken their seats for the last 75-minute level of the day. We won't reach the money today, but players are nevertheless aware that nearly half of them -- the top 40 -- will be cashing.

Malott Smells Something Foul

Ruslan Prydryk
Ruslan Prydryk
Opening the pot from late position, Ruslan Prydryk made it 5,000 to play. In the blinds, Andrew Malott three-bet it up to 13,500, and Prydryk eventually called.

The flop came out {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}, and Malott continued out with a bet of 11,300. After a sideways glance across the felt, Prydryk raised to 25,000, and Malott instantly open-mucked {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}.

"Man, that's dog shit," said Malott. A bit of banter ensued between he and the players near him, and he continued, "Yeah, I had kings. He had dog shit. I don't need to ask, I know what he had. He had an ace and he hit his three outs."

That pot bumps Prydryk back up to 180,000 after a few recent slip-ups.

Prydryk Picks Up Some More

Ruslan Prydryk opened with a raise to 5,000 from under the gun, and the table folded back around to the player in the big blind who called. The flop came {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}. The BB checked, Prydryk bet 7,000, and his opponent called. The turn was the {Q-Spades}, and the same routine followed: check, bet of 7,000 from Prydryk, and a call.

The river was the {5-Hearts}. Again the BB checked, and this time Prydryk fired 35,000. After a long think, his opponent called, and Prydryk turned over the nuts -- {A-Spades}{K-Spades}. He's now up to 225,000.

Shaun of the Dead; Deeb Out

What? Shaun Deeb is done
What? Shaun Deeb is done
Shaun Deeb opened with a raise preflop, and Jonas Kronwitter, sitting on Deeb's left, reraised behind. It folded back around and Deeb called, making for a pot of about 30,000.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Deeb checked, Kronwitter bet 17,000, and Deeb check-raised all in for about 80,000. Kronwitter made the call, turning over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, well ahead of Deeb's {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and the river was the {Q-Spades}, and Deeb hits the rail. Kronwitter pushes up close to 300,000, and is presently challenging Priit Turner for the chip leader.

The Levi Breaks

Nicolas Levi
Nicolas Levi
We began Day 2 reporting some humorous table talk between Nicolas Levi and Shaun Deeb. Unfortunately for Levi, he, too, has just hit the rail, his ouster coinciding closely with Deeb's.

Oleksandr Ziv and Mikhail Mazunin are also among those eliminated. There are presently 74 players left.

Triple Dutch

Menno Mulder
Menno Mulder
All three of the remaining Dutch players have been doing some work over the last hour or so. Raoul Refos was riding a relatively short stack for much of the much of the day, but he's been steadily chipping up for some time now to find himself sitting with 92,000. Ad Schaap was carrying the Dutch national hopes for a while today, and he's still been smoothly working his way toward the top. He's on 155,000 now, but he's not the country's leader anymore.

Online qualifier Menno Mulder has come from seemingly nowhere to amass a very healthy chip stack. He just dropped by to see Refos and relay a recent hand, and it ended with the two men bumping fists and congratulating each other's progress. Mulder has vaulted up to 210,000 which puts him comfortably in the top ten.
