Dragan Galic Interview

Dragan Galic had a rough last level, dropping a little more than half of his stack during the course of the 75 minutes. But Gloria had a chance to talk to the Croatian native in more plentiful times during the previous break. Check out what he had to say about the fast start to his day, and his choice to play here in Kyiv:

Sarwer In Action

Jeffrey Sarwer
Jeffrey Sarwer
Reports of Menno Mulder's demise were premature -- he's here! He was just now in dire straits, though, all in before the flop with {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against one of the chip leaders, Jeffrey Sarwer, who held {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. But the board ran out {K-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and Mulder survived. He has about 95,000 at the moment.

Sarwer was active again right away, raising the next hand to 3,000 and getting one caller in Ruslan Prydryk. The flop came {5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Sarwer checked, Prydryk bet 4,000, Sarwer check-raised to 14,000, and Prydryk called. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, and both players checked.

The river brought the {4-Clubs}. Sarwer checked, Prydryk swiftly bet 15,000, and Sarwer waited about a minute before letting it go.

Prydryk is up to 185,000 now, while Sarwer has 175,000.

Family Pot

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb opened with a raise to 3,700 from early position. Jonas Kronwitter, sitting to Deeb's left, removed his headphones and asked Deeb how much he had left. "Fifteen yellows," said Deeb, pointing to his chips. Deeb had a few reds, blacks, and purples there, too -- about 100,000 altogether.

Kronwitter called, then Lika Gerasimova called, too, as did two more players (the cutoff and small blind). The flop then came {K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. The SB checked, and Deeb continued for 11,700. Kronwitter and Gerasimova folded, then the player in the cutoff raised to 25,000. The small blind folded, and Deeb thought a little while before pushing all in. His lone remaining opponent considered a bit, then let it go.

"Why'd you have to start that?" cracked Deeb to Kronwitter. "Turned out to be a huge pot," he added.

Deeb trips back up to 135,000 with that one. Meanwhile, Kronwitter still is our chip leader with about 255,000. Gerasimova has a healthy stack, too, with 139,000.

Kravchenko KOed

Alex Kravchenko
Alex Kravchenko
After nursing a below average stack all day, Alex Kravchenko pushed all in with his last 16,400 holding {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} only to run into Niculae Badulescu who had {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}.

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{Q-Spades}, and Kravchenko hit the rail.

Evdakov Drinking Double

A short-stacked Nikolay Evdakov moved all in first into the pot holding {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. He was called down by one player, and Evdakov's ace-high would hold on a board running {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} {6-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. He picks up a double up, moving back to 40,000 at a crucial stage of the day.

Honesty Under the Gun

Dragan Galic raised to 4,800, prompting Aliaksei Vesialou -- sitting to his left -- to ask him whether he was raising light. "No, not under the gun, no," answered Galic. "From the button, yes. But never under the gun."

Vesialou reraised all in for 25,100 and the table folded back to Galic who after a bit more conversation with Vesialou let it go. Vesialou showed his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} as he dragged the small pot, and Galic said he had ace-queen.

Galic has slipped a bit but still has just under 49,000. Vesialou has just over 30,000.

Vesialou Doubles Too

Viktor Ivanov opened the pot with a raise to 4,500 in middle position. A couple seats over, Aliaksei Vesialou moved all in for a total of 43,600, and Ivanov would hem and haw and eventual make the call to put his opponent at risk.

Vesialou showed up {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}, and Ivanov cringed as he tabled {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. The dealer ran a board of {4-Clubs} {8-Spades} {2-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} to hold Vesialou's hand and earn him a double up just over 90,000.
