Meyburg Crippled but Stays Afloat

Michael Meyburg was crippled in a confrontation with Volodymyr Zakharov's pocket queens. Meyburg held {K-Spades} {10-Spades} and was unable to improve, dropping him down to just about 40,000.

On the following hand, Iliya Gorodetskiy opened with a raise to 20,000 from early position, and Torsten Trent made the call with the big stack. The action folded around to short stack Meyburg, and he moved all in for 37,000. Gorodetskiy wanted to know if he was allowed to re-raise, and he did just that, moving all in himself. Trent ducked out of the way, and it was heads up for Meyburg's tournament life.

Showdown
Gorodetskiy: {A-Clubs} {8-Spades}
Meyburg: {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

The board would run out favorable for Meyburg, coming {3-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to hold his kicker and nearly triple him up.

Meyburg and Gorodetskiy Tangle Again

Just a couple hands after those Meyburg encounters, Iliya Gorodetskiy open-shoved all in for 121,000, and Meyburg called all in to once again put himself at risk. He turned over {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}, racing for his tournament life versus his opponent's {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}.

The flop would find Meybrug as it came {J-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, and the {Q-Diamonds} and {2-Hearts} that filled out the board would secure his double up. He's back in business with about 225,000, and now it's Gorodetskiy who is dangerously low, sitting with just about 15,000 now.

David Jaoui Eliminated in 20th Place (€9,600)

David Jaoui - 20th Place
David Jaoui - 20th Place
First into the pot, David Jaoui moved all in for 101,000, and Waldemar Kopyl quickly called in the next seat over. After a lengthy delay to bring the cameras to the table, the cards were turned up:

Showdown
Jaoui: {A-Spades} {7-Clubs}
Kopyl: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}

There would be no salvation for the all-in Jaoui as the dealer ran a board of {Q-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Failing to improve, David Jaoui becomes our 20th-place finisher, taking home just shy of €10,000 for his three-day effort.

Iliya Gorodetskiy Eliminated in 19th Place (€9,600)

Iliya Gorodetskiy - 20th Place
Down to just 45,000, Iliya Gorodetskiy (Russia) open-pushed all in from the small blind, and Torsten Tent (Germany) quickly called him from the big blind. Gorodestskiy showed {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}. At least he had two live cards versus Tent's {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The flop came {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, and Gorodetskiy was in bad shape. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, meaning the Russian could still hit a straight. But the river was the {8-Diamonds}, and Gorodetskiy is out in 20th place.

Tent has joined the one-million chip club now, though still is far behind chip leader Maxim Lykov who has about 1.5 million.

Shoveski Works for Markushevski

Vadim Markushevski
Vadim Markushevski
No showdown, but a huge pot in this one between Vadim Markushevski and Adrian Schaap.

With over 200,000 already in the middle and the board showing {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Markushevski checked from the big blind, Schaap bet 125,000 from middle position, and Markushevski called. Both then checked the {8-Clubs} turn.

The river brought the {7-Spades}, and a rapidly-delivered declaration of "all in" from Markushevski. Schaap didn't appear to want to let it go, but fold he did.

After that one, Markushevki moves up to 1.15 million and into second place overall. Schaap, meanwhile, slips to 405,000.
