Ziv Picked Off

David Jaoui raised from middle position, and it folded around to Oleksandr Ziv of the Ukraine who called from the big blind. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades} and both players checked. The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and a bet of 3,000 from Ziv. Jaoui counted out his stack -- about 30,000 -- then made the call.

The river brought the {10-Hearts}. Ziv quickly fired 6,000, then settled behind his large sunglasses. Jaoui fretted for a couple of minutes before finally making the call. Ziv continued to sit motionless until Jaoui repeated he had called, thus inviting Ziv to show his hand. The Ukrainian sheepishly turned over {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Jaoui showed {A-Spades}{6-Spades} and claimed the pot.

Ziv is still quite healthy, though, with a stack of 85,000. Jaoui now sits with 45,000.
