Stick a Gork in Me, I'm Done

Marc of Cain
Marc of Cain
Evgeniy Zaytsev raised to 6,800 from the button and Marc Gork in the big blind reraised to 40,500, leaving himself around 1,000 in small denomination chips behind. Zaytsev put him in, Gork obviously called, and they were on their backs.

Gork: {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts}
Zaytsev: {3-Spades} {3-Hearts}

Board: {8-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Gork remained seated for a while but seeing as he had no chips left he eventually got up and headed for the door. Zaytsev is up to 230,000.

Dag Drops One

Dag Palovic's opponent moved all in on a {7-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Clubs} board, and Palovic called with {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} for the nut flush draw. He'd need to hit a club to avoid doubling up the at risk player, who held {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. The turn and river were both red cards, shipping the pot to the pocket aces. After the 130k hit to his stack, Palovic has around 235k heading to dinner.

Kabbaj Continues to Cook Himself

We caught up with John Kabbaj involved in a four-way pot on a {J-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} board. Action had been checked to the button, who bet 10,500. After one fold, Kabbaj called, and the third player to act folded. It was heads up to the {4-Spades} river, about as big a brick as possible. Kabbaj checked again, and the button bet 17,000. Kabbaj check-raised the river to 52,000.

As soon as his opponent said "call," Kabbaj told him he was good. Kabbaj showed {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for three pair, but three pair isn't that great a hold'em hand. The other player scooped the pot with {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, and Kabbaj fell to 41,000.

Tu Confusing

Joao Barbosa raised preflop, and Tu Tuan To called out of the blinds to see a {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs} flop. To checked, then called Barbosa's 7,300 bet. The turn brought the {A-Hearts}. To decided to bet the pot this time. Barbosa pondered for a minute but just shook his head and mucked. It's clear that To has his table thoroughly confused now. He's got us confused too as his stack multiplies and shrinks every time we walk by his table.

LAPT Viña Del Mar Cancelled

The PokerStars.net LAPT Viña Del Mar in Chile has officially been cancelled due to the recent earthquake that struck Chile just 175 miles south of Viña Del Mar where the tournament was to be hosted.

Here's what the LAPT website had to say about the news in their official statement.

"The PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) regrets to announce that the 2010 LAPT Viña del Mar, Chile poker festival has been cancelled. The festival was scheduled to be held at the Enjoy Viña del Mar Casino and Resort from March 19-23, 2010.

"All players who have qualified or bought-in to the event will be fully refunded their buy-ins and any out-of-pocket expenses*.

"This cancellation follows a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Chile approximately 175 miles south of Viña del Mar on February 27, 2010. The cancellation of the festival has been forced by the effects of the earthquake and in light of the rescue and recovery efforts now taking place throughout Chile.

"Everyone at PokerStars.net and the LAPT offers their thoughts and condolences to all of those affected by this tragic natural disaster.

"The LAPT sincerely apologizes for this cancellation to the players that had planned to attend the festival. To download the full press release please click here."

Jaspers At It

It looked like there was at least one raise preflop (although the 400 ante makes every pot look huge so it's hard to tell) but either way Joris Jaspers (hijack) and Manuel Bevand (cutoff) saw an {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {K-Spades} flop. Jaspers bet out 11,600, Bevand called, and they saw a turn.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and this time Jaspers bet out 28,000. Again, Bevand called.

They saw a {9-Diamonds} river and this time Jaspers checked. Bevand checked behind and flipped over {K-?} {Q-?} - easily good enough to beat Jaspers' nothing-until-the-river {A-?} {9-?}.

"Would you have called?" asked Jaspers, referring to a hypothetical all-in bet on the river. "Probably," replied Bevand.

Bevand - almost 200,000
Jaspers - 80,000
