When Three Ladies Aren't Enough

We just caught the tail end of a pot between fellow-Danes Peter Eastgate and Martin Skanborg. The two played it relatively slow, building a small pot of just over 4,000 chips on a board that came {K-Clubs}

, putting a full house on board.

When the last card hit the board, Skanborg checked it over, and Eastgate paused for a long moment before checking it back. Skanborg flashed {Q-Clubs}

and almost mucked his quads before the dealer reminded him to table his hand to win the pot. He did that, and the two men exchanged a few good-natured remarks in their native tongue as the chips went to Skanborg.

No Napping for Jorn

Some extreme oddness at Jorn Walthaus' table.

Mr. Walthaus raised to 800 under the gun and got a call from Erik Tamm.

Walthaus bet out on the {8-Spades}

flop and again on the {J-Diamonds}

turn; both times Tamm flatted. When they reached the {4-Clubs}

river, Walthaus checked and Tamm put in a considerable bet - perhaps 8,000. Walthaus squinted and squirmed and finally made the call - and was rewarded when his pocket threes turned out to be good to beat Tamm's {A-?}

. Wow.

After that very excellent call, Walthaus is up to 55,000.

Half As Much Now For Romanello

From the cutoff seat, Roberto Romanello opened the pot with a raise to 1,050. Kristoffer Thorsson was in the small blind, and he stuck in a three-bet to 3,200. Romanello gave a sideways look as he quickly called the extra amount.

The flop came out {3-Hearts}

, and Thorsson continued out with a half-pot bet of 3,500. Romanello plucked the calling chips from his stack and slung them into the middle. Fourth street came the {4-Clubs}

, and Thorsson knocked the table this time. Romanello took that as his cue to fire 7,000 at the pot. That just wasn't going to work, though. Thorsson asked for a count on his opponents' remaining chips -- he had about 13,000 in front of him -- before announcing a covering check-raise all in.

Romanello didn't like it, and he couldn't call either. His cards went back into the muck, and he'll save the rest of his dwindling stack for a better spot.

Show Them the Money

The staff has put been working furiously with an abacus for several hours, and it seems they've finished calculating the prize pool for us.

The 423 runners who made up our field here have generated a prize pool worth 14,212,800 DKK (about $2.6 million or €1.9 million). That money will be divvied up between the top 56 finishers, with the bottom payout being worth 55,000 DKK. The full breakdown can be found in the Prizepool and Payouts tab, but most of the players are only concerned about one number. The first place number. This year's event will award the winner a top prize of 3,675,000 DKK, just shy of €500,000.

With the numbers fixed firmly in their sights, the players have another three full levels of grinding tonight.

flop and his opponent (big blind) checked. ElkY bet 4,400, Mr. Big Blind called, and they proceeded.

Now concentrate! Here comes the woe bit.

The turn came the {A-Diamonds}

and both players checked; come the {A-Clubs}

river Mr. Big Blind bet out 2,200. With a rather theatrical sigh, ElkY tossed in the call, and then promptly mucked when Mr. Big Blind turned over {A-Hearts}

Romanello Doubles Back Up

Roberto Romanello opened from the cutoff for 1,725 and his neighbour on the button was the only caller. As is the custom, they saw a flop.

Flop: {J-Spades}

Romanello stared at the flop for a while and then bet out 3,500. Mr. Button raised, and with an Oscar-worthy sigh Romanello tossed the last of his chips in - 13,500 in total, including the initial 3,500 bet. Mr, Button called, and they flipped their cards.

Mr. Button: {A-Clubs}

Romanello: {A-Spades}

Turn: {K-Clubs}

River:

With that, Romanello is above his starting stack for the first time today.

Brolin Uphill

A gentleman in early position raised to 1,650 and Tomas Brolin to his immediate left called, as did the gentleman in the big blind. They saw a flop.

Flop: {8-Hearts}

Messrs. Big Blind and Original Raiser both checked to Brolin, who bet. Mr. Big Blind now passed, but Mr. Original Raiser raised. Brolin called, and they went heads up to the turn.

Turn: {4-Hearts}

Mr. Original Raiser promptly bet out 10,550, leaving himself just 10,000 behind. Brolin disappeared into the tank, and the Wall Of Media closed in around the table. When Brolin emerged from his tank, he raised enough to put his opponent all in - and was rewarded with an insta-fold from Mr. Original Raiser.

Brolin is up to 80,000.

Glo and Jens

She doesn't let on that she speaks Finnish, and it's probably just as well they spoke in English so we can all understand it. flop, which is when we caught up with the two of them. Mr. Early Position bet out only for ElkY to raise. Mr. Early Position made the call, and they saw a turn.

Turn: {K-Spades}

Mr. Early Position now checked and ElkY bet a means-business 5,550. Undeterred, his opponent called, and they moved on to the river.

River: {6-Hearts}

Mr. Early Position checked again, and this time ElkY bet an enormous number of yellow 5,000-denomination chips, easily enough to put his opponent all in. Finally Mr. Early Position gave it up, and the pot was ElkY's.
