De Korver Stack Petering Out

Oh dear. It's been a poor start for reigning EPT Grand Final champion Pieter de Korver. We don't have the details, but we arrived just in time to see him mucking his cards and turning his attention to his ipod, presumably changing the music to something more maudlin to suit his mood.

He's down to 18,000.

Table of Death?

Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro has just joined the field, and he's found himself at a rather tough table. He's on the left of reigning WSOP champion Joe Cada, and he has the Lebanese Poker champion, Nabil Matta two seats to his left. Directly across the table sits Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden, and this is one table we'll be keeping a close eye on today.

Norinder Picked Off by Ugly Two-Outer

Constantino Russo opened for 550 in early position and it folded right around to Mikael Norinder in the big blind who reraised to 1,800, leaving himself just 10,000 plus shrapnel behind. Russo called, and they saw a flop.

Flop: {3-Spades} {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}

Both players checked, and they proceeded to the turn.

Turn: {2-Clubs}

Norinder checked again but this time Russo bet 1,825. Norinder now check-raised to 5,025. Russo disappeared into the tank for a while, and when he came out again he three-bet to out Norinder in. An instacall, and they were on their backs.

Russo: {5-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}
Norinder: well ahead with {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

River: wait for it....

...

... {5-Spades}

"Wow, well played," lied Norinder as he took his leave. Then, once he had left the table, "Is that normal?" Our hearts go out to him.

Quick Start!

Sami “LarsLusak” Kelpuro has immediately has managed to get up to 60,000. He snapped off a river bet of 11,000 from Salvatore Giovanni on a {3-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} board with {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} after the muttering Giovanni was forced to show a missed {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

Aces Wasted for Wasek

Some dreadful misfortune for EPT Berlin finalist Artur Wasek as he called 4,400 from Peter Traply on the turn of a {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} board. Both players checked the {J-Spades} river and Wasek turned over {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} - only to discover that Traply was holding {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} for the nut flush. Some impassioned ranting in Polish followed, and Wasek is down to 14,500.

Please Stand By

Ah, San Remo, how we love you and your intermittent internet connection. Perhaps it's the cloud of volcanic ash. Either way we are having some serious connectivity issues here in the Casino San Remo press room, but we are assured that some magical techies are on their way and normal service should resume shortly.

A Little Not Alioto

Dario Alioto raised preflop and JP Kelly defended in the big blind.

The flop was {J-Spades} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and Kelly check-called a bet of 1,100 before both checked the {8-Spades} turn. Kelly fired 1,600 on the {5-Clubs} river and Alioto thought for a moment before folding.

Vitaly Important Pot Is Not Lunkin Good For The Russian

Vitaly Lunkin has been knocked out of the tournament, he fired out 2,000 on a {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} flop but got check-raised all-in by Johnny Lodden. With only 6,000 left Lunkin made the call but found his {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} in really trouble against Lodden's {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts}.

The {K-Hearts} improved Lodden's hand to a boat but gave Lunkin some outs but the {Q-Clubs} river wasn't one of them and the Russian bracelet winner was eliminated.
