Sarwer Suffers a Misfortune

Jeff Sarwer and Canio Pietrapertosa saw a {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} flop and Sarwer checked. Pietrapertosa bet 15,000 and Sarwer stared him down for a long time before making the call.

Both players checked the {6-Diamonds} turn and come the {4-Hearts} turn Sarwer bet out 16,200. Pietrapertosa called and Sarwer flipped {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} - but Pietrapertosa turned over {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} for a rivered straight and took the pot. Sarwer shook his head slowly. "Sorry," said Pietrapertosa.

Sarwer is left with around 100,000.

Pagano Sinks Lower

With around 25,000 having found its into the pot before the {Q-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} flop, Pagano checked. Vittorio Fiume bet 15,000 and the short-stacked Pagano gave it some thought before folding with a sigh.

He's down to 30,000 after that.

Mercier Up, Mercier Down

Jason Mercier has been a busy bee today and seems to have got all the way up to around 180,000 - before losing 50,000 of it doubling up another player. We only caught the very tail end of it, but Stanislav Bardetsky had {A-?} {K-?}, the board was raggy, and we just caught a glimpse of a {J-?} in Mercier's possession before the dealer swept his cards into the muck.

Mercier's on 130,000 after that.

Boeree Cracks Aces With 7-2

Liv Boeree has doubled up in a less than conventional way after she told us she raised UTG with, err -- {7-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and got flatted by {A-?} {A-?}. The flop was {8-?} {6-?} {5-?} and Boeree bet 7,500 with about 22,000 behind quickly calling against her opponent's push and then making a straight by the river to get up to 60,000.

Highly amusing.

Two Tidbits

The Oracle
The Oracle
EPT Copenhagen champion Anton Wigg is up to about 115,000 chips after dragging a small pot with pocket eights. The board showed {A-Clubs} {6-Spades} {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} when Wigg called a river bet from Damien Rony. Rony could only show queen-high, and Wigg stacked the pot without a word.

---

Roy Winston is doing even better than that. We walked up to his table to see a board of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} and more than 55,000 chips in the pot. Rainer Meyer had checked on fifth street, and Winston fired 37,000 as his wife kept a close eye on things from the rail. Meyer would tank for at least four or five minutes, clearly debating a tough decision. Finally, and reluctantly, he slid his cards into the muck.

"Two kings," said Winston as he dragged the pot towards him. Meyer seemed unconvinced. We're not sure whether or not we believe him either, but the fact that he has about 155,000 chips is undebatable.

Winston's bride came over and gave him quite the tableside kiss before whooshing back into the sea of spectators. "She shows up, I always get lucky," Roy added.

We love a good double entendre too.

Sunshine for Solina

Carla Solinas has doubled up to around 90,000. It seems that a raising war culminated with Solinas calling all in with {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} and finding herself up against the {K-?} {Q-?} of a player who appears to have mislaid his ID card.

Board: {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {5-Clubs}
