Abacus Starts To Count Them Up

Michel Abecassis
Michel Abecassis
Vincenzo Pisano limped preflop and Michel "The Abacus" Abecassis limped behind allowing the blinds to join in a four-way pot. On the {10-Spades} {2-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} flop, it was checked to Pisano who bet 55,000, Abecassis raised to 135,000 and the blinds folded.

Pisano debated what to do since he only had about 250,000 or so behind, he went to push his stack all-in and Abecassis did the same, but then Pisano then cheekily stopped. Abecassis did also, pointing to his grey hairs saying he knew all the tricks in the game.
Pisano went back into the tank and another player called time, then Pisano decided not to push or fold, but to actually call instead.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Pisano checked then called off the rest of his stack when Abecassis set him in. Pisano flipped {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} but was behind to {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs} and the river was the {10-Diamonds} making Abecassis a full house. Pisano was eliminated and Abecassis has 1.2 million.

Mazza Crumbles

Jens "Brother Of William" Thorson raised from the cutoff only for Sylvain Jean Mazza to shove from the small blind. Atanas Gueorguiev reraised from the big blind, Thorson decided he was beaten and gave it up, and Mazza and Gueorguiev were on their backs, as it were.

Mazza: {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs}
Gueorguiev: {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}

Board: {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}

Duly Mazza took his leave and Gueorguiev moved up to over a million.

Not Going Baekke To Schul

Bække in the money
Bække in the money
Allan Baekke just took a big pot off Nick Schulman, but he had to make four bets to get the bracelet-winner off his hand.

Baekke raised to 35,000 from the button and Schulman called in the small blind, Baekke then fired 37,000 on the {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} {10-Clubs} flop, 82,000 on the {J-Hearts} turn and 145,000 on the {3-Clubs} river. Schulman check-called the first two bets but on the river he tanked into the break for several minutes while most of the other players left the table. Finally, he released his hand and the chip leader Baekke just got a whole lot richer.

Pretty Standard

From middle position, Paul Valkenburg opened to 45,000. All the way around the table, big blind Nicholas Sforos three-bet to 125,000 straight, and Valkenburg called the remainder to see a flop.

It came down {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}, and Valkenburg knocked the table. Sforos continued with the betting lead, firing out 170,000 chips. Valkenburg sat still for just 15 or 20 seconds before Sforos piped up, "You're so good. You call me, now on the flop you're thinking."

Valkenburg wasn't sure how to respond. "… Pretty standard," he said. From across the table, Paul Berende piped up, "It's not rush poker." The table chuckled, and Valkenburg smirked and released his cards into the muck.

Emanuele Can't

Allan Bække opened to 43,000 in the cutoff but Michel Abecassis made it 119,000 in the small blind. Emanuele Rugini shoved from the big blind for less than 200,000 total, Bække thought better and Abecassis was left to make the obvious call.

Abecassis: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Rugini: {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}

Board: {4-Hearts} {5-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {K-Clubs}

Another one bites the tournament dust.
