The Sun Has Got His Day 2 Hat On

Al Krav is up there
Al Krav is up there
Good morning and welcome back to an unseasonably sunny Hinterglemm. The sun is pounding down on the now rather melty snow outside so we can't vouch for the quality of the slopes, but never fear! There's an EPT Day 2 just 20 minutes or so from kicking off in here, and there is going to be at least as much excitement inside the Alpine Palace as you could possibly hope to find outside.

259 players made it through from the various Day Ones, and first among them chip-wise is David Wintersberger. This is by no means a foregone conclusion, though - other folks with hefty stacks include Julien Brecard, Johannes Strassmann and Alex Kravchenko. Things should be kicking off shortly, so watch this space...

Let's Do This

The 259 players have moved from the lobby to the tournament room, but there was no sign of TD Thomas Kremser as the start time approached. Just a few minutes after 2:00, the TV screens came to life, showing Kremser perched atop an Alp in full ski regalia. He gave the command to "Shuffle Up and Deal" over the airwaves, and the dealers have heeded his command.

With that, the cards are in the air, and Day 2 is a go!

Vincent Races Out

Niclas Adolfsson raised in the cutoff and then called the shove from Jacques Vincent in the big blind. A race!

Adolfsson: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Vincent: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}

Board: {8-Hearts} {4-Spades} {10-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}

Vincent flashed a wry smile and headed for the door and, presumably, the slopes. Adolfsson is up to around 90,000.

Brdaric Unreadable

A hissed, "YES!" alerted us to the fact that Tomas "How Do You Pronounce That" Brdaric had doubled up. He got his last in with pocket {J-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} on a {2-Spades} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} flop against Paul Valkenburg's {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} straight draw, but the turn and river came blanks - {7-Hearts} and {9-Spades} respectively - and he doubled to 50,000.

Kravchenko Takes a Hit

The background makes him look unusually cheery today
The background makes him look unusually cheery today
We arrived at Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko's table in time to see him make a call for a significant amount of his chips.

He had put 22,500 into the pot and his opponent, Florian Bussman, had moved all in for 100,500. Kravchenko thought it over for a few minutes and made the call with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, racing against Bussman's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Kravchenko is down to 27,000 after the lost race. Bussman surges to over 200,000.

Strassmann Set Up

We arrived just in time to see an enormous three-way all in showdown.

Flop: {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}

Stefan Fuchs: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} for an overpair
Jorn Walthaus: {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} for two pair
Johannes Strassmann: {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} for a set

Turn: {5-Spades}

River: {10-Diamonds}

Strassmann covered the both of them, and consequently Walthaus and Fuchs headed for the door. Strassmann, however, looks set to have a very good day - he started with 135,000, and now he's got 250,000.
