Joking Around

Spot the Joker
Spot the Joker
Strange things afoot at table 42 which features Men Nguyen, Roland de Wolfe, James Dempsey and Phil Ivey and Steve Sung. A couple of players had limped before the player in seat one revealed he had a joker in his hand but after having put money in the pot. The blinds folded and the first limper ended up revealing {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} face up as the players sat in confusion about what to do.

"Is this his first tournament?" laughed de Wolfe, "he's playing with the joker in his hand?"

By this time, the floor had been called while the dealer had turned the offending card down keeping it separate to the muck.

"Please can I see it?" pleaded Sung, ready to take a photo, but the dealer would not turn it over.

"Is there a hobgoblin too?" inquired de Wolfe, "I think Phil brought it!" referring to Ivey who had disappeared away from the table ahead of a gathering media presence.

Meanwhile, the floor ruled that the player in seat one could get a new card and continue the hand. De Wolfe and Dempsey protested that the deck had not been checked and might contain another joker or a "Lunkin" as De Wolfe cheekily referred to it.

The hand though was played out with a replacement card given and a non-descript board checked down between seat one and Men Nguyen in the small blind. Straight after this a new deck was brought as a replacement.
