Day 3 Down, Eyster's Got the View from the Top

Kevin Eyster

Day 3 is a wrap in Monaco, and American Kevin Eyster is off into the night as chip leader, a position he's had most of the day to get used to. Matt Perrins is very close behind him after winning a massive pot with kings against aces and then wielding his back stack skillfully all evening. Jean Francois Talbot rounds out the top three. Nick Schulman, Andrew Chen, and Manuel Bevand will also be back on Thursday to fight for a place at the Grand Final final table.

The day began with 116 players, but by 10:00, the field was down to 24. Team PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren nearly made it to Day 4, finishing just short in 27th place (€40,000). Fellow pros Alex Gomes and Lex Veldhuis were also only a few eliminations away. Chris Moneymaker started with a big stack but was eliminated in 69th place (€25,000). UK football phenom Teddy Sheringham hit the rail as well, as did EPT Berlin champion Kevin MacPhee. Neil Channing, Nicolas Levi, Davidi Kitai, and Mel Judah all also finished in the money.

The last 24 will be back at noon local time on Thursday to play down to the eight-handed final table. Here's how the field will be laid out when they return for the penultimate day:
