Split Potaments

We have just seen our first split pot of the final table, with Guiseppe Pantaleo and Thor Stang being involved.

Pantaleo open-completed the small blind and Stang checked his option. The flop came down {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and once again both players checked. Guess what happened when the {9-Hearts} showed up on the river? Yes, they both checked!

Pantaleo: {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Stang: {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Thor Takes A Blow

Thor Stang opened from the cutoff seat to 165,000, Kent Lundmark three-bet to 355,000 and when the action got back to Stang, he made the call.

Flop: {q-Spades}{2-Spades}{k-Spades}

Both players checked the all spade flop and then checked when the {5-Hearts} appeared on the turn. Everyone watching the live feed in the media room thought the players would also check the {9-Clubs} on the river, but Stang bet 550,000 and Lundmark quickly called.

Stang: {a-}{q-}

Lundmark: {k-}{j-}

Three Betting

Konstantin Puchkov opened to 175,000 in late position and Giuseppe Pantaleo three bet from the button making it 440,000. This was the second time in succession that Pantaleo had three-bet the Russian and for the second time the Russian folded.

Then Giuseppe Pantaleo raised to 165,000 and Thor Stang three-bet from the button to 375,000 and Pantaleo folded.

Pantaleo's Fortunes Change - Slightly

Giuseppe Pantaleo

Finally! Finally Giuseppe Pantaleo has picked up a pot. It wasn't a biggie but it's a start.

Konstantin Puchkov opened for 175,000 and it folded around to Pantaleo in the small blind. He re-popped to 470,000. Puchkov immediately stood up and bent over the table to study Pantaleo, who to our minds looked dreadfully unhappy. Eventually Puchkov folded though, and Pantaleo started out on what he presumably hopes is the long road back to the chip lead.

As far as we can see from squinting at the live feed (as well as hole cards, other things the TV guys are not keen on showing include chip counts) Pantaleo is back up to 2.8 million or so.

Handy Update

Shander De Vries opened to 160,000 and Thor Stang called in the small blind. We had a flop of {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} and Stang and De Vries both checked. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Stang lead for 185,000 and De Vries mucked.

Jesus Cortes Lizano raised from the small blind to 185,000 and Kent Lundmark called in the big blind. {5-Spades} {5-Clubs} {8-Spades} hit the flop and Lizano made the continuation bet to 265,000 and Lundmark shot a glance at Lizano's stack before folding.

In the next hand Lizano raised on the button and both blinds folded.
