The internet connections here at the Casino de Barcelona are, well, interesting. If, as happened yesterday, we should go offline, never fear! We'll continue collecting information and will be posting it as soon as we can with the connection we have.
Apologies in advance for any technical difficulties...
Over at table 13 there was an open from middle position and Team Pokerstars Pro Dario Minieri called from the small blind. The flop was and Mineri checked over to the raiser who bet 525 and Minieri called. The turn was the and this time the Italian led making it 1,500 to play and his opponent made the raise to 3,500. Minieri changed his stance for one second to shoot a glance over at his opponent before calling. The river was the and Minieri bet 2,500 and his opponent called.

Split Pot!
Team PokerStars Ireland Pro, Jude Ainsworth has just lost a large pot, leaving himself with 12,175 from his 30,000 starting stack.
We caught the hand just as Ainsworth had called bet of around 4,000 on a board reading , leaving the dealer to burn a card and deal the on the river.
The big blind bet 1,675 into a pot of around 15,000, which prompted the Galaway player to ask how much his opponent had behind. Remaining silent, the big blind moved his hands so Ainswroth could count the 12,000 chips he had remaining.
Another thirty seconds passed and Ainsworth finally made the call, but quickly mucked as his opponent showed for trip nines.
Ainsworth now has 12,125 chips
Team Pokerstars Pro Johnny Lodden is sat over at table 21 and has Dominik Nitsche to his left - Nitsche cashed in this same event last year.
Pokerstars Team Online André Coimbra is getting busy over at table 22. We caught up the flop showing and a player in seat 2 had bet and Coimbra had called. The turn was the and the player in seat 2 bet 1,750 and Coimbra called. The river was the and both players checked. Coimbra took the pot with which just pipped his opponents to the post.
Players are still pouring in, desperate to shed €5,000 in an effort to take a stab at EPT glory, but one table is looking particularly fearsome at the moment. Check out this lineup:
- EPT Vilamoura champion Toby Lewis
- WSOP bracelet holder and winner of the PokerNews Cup Alpine Marc Naalden
- former Spanish international striker and Friend of PokerStars Poli Rincon
- 2009 WSOPE PLO finalist, and recent Amsterdam Master Classics runner up, Ville Haavisto
Table 18 could prove to be one of the most interesting in the room as it is currently the home to Team PokerStars Pro, Theo Jorgensen and Fabian Quoss.
Quoss has been on fire over the past couple of months, first reaching the final table of WPT London in August, then winning the English Poker Open in September, before coming fifth in the £20,000 High Roller Event at EPT London in October. Can he make it four consective months with a major score?
He added a few extra chips to his starting stack after he raised to 250 preflop from the cutoff seat and only the small blind decided to take him on.
Flop:
The small blind checked, Quoss bet a single purple 500 chips and the small blind instantly mucked. Easy game
It may be the winter season but it is still a rather mild 12 degrees out there today, but try telling that to some of the players inside the cardroom.
Whilst scouting for interesting hands to document I have seen many players in their traditional hoodies but also man huddled up like he is in Alaska, complete with a wooly scarf tighed tightly around his neck. There is also a man wearing a rather fetching woolen bobble hat, adourned with a large PokerStars logo.
Maybe they should take a leaf out of Dutch Team PokerStars Pro Marcel Luske who once again is dressed impeccably in a black business suit.
Day 1b has begun in much the same way that day 1a did but with one notable difference – it is bigger! More players, more spectators and it is a tight squeeze as we weave in and out of the tables.
There is also a different feel to the room today. Yesterday was very laid back but today there seems to be a more serious tone to the atmosphere.
Team Pokerstars Pro Liv Boeree is sat at table 26. Team Pokerstars Pros Angel Guillen and Betrand “ElkY” Grospellier are staring into each other souls over at table 16 but the most interesting table is table 13 where we have Team Pokerstar Pros Dario Minieri, Daniel Negreanu and young up and coming UK youngster John Eames – Eames recently won a side event at EPT Vienna for over €100,000.
