Biro Runs Out

Daniel Biro
Daniel Biro

Having dropped in the first level to a shoving stack (and a below-average one at that) Daniel Biro found a fair spot to move all in from the small blind. He only had to get through Balazs Csermely in the big blind, but there was no escape for his {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} as Csermely called with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and the board failed to complete the straight tantalisingly suggested by the {9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop. Biro hit the table once, which might have been a sign of frustration or a very vehement table-tap for his opponent.

Return of the Judet

Toni Judet picked up {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} in the small blind, called a button raise (12k) and then found Josef Klinger moving in from the big blind. The 121,500 bet scared off the button but Judet was unwilling to relinquish his hand. He called and found himself in a race vs. Klinger's {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The board brought paint galore, and an Ace, knocking Klinger out and bringing Judet back to 680,000.

Zo 'Zik

Jacques Zaicik
Jacques Zaicik

Jacques Zaicik, all in for just 60,000 or so, didn't look terribly comfortable as the cards were turned over, even though his {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} were well ahead of Tommie Janssen's {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Nevertheless the board came down an unintimidating {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades} and he doubled to 125,000.

Janssen, who'd made a good recovery from his earlier hit, dropped back down to 190,000.

Yazbeck in the Game; UL Ulrich

Emile Jad Yazbeck has eliminated Santiago Terrazas, hitting a {7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} flop harder with his {K-Spades}{J-Spades} than Terrazas with {A-Spades}{7-Spades}. The {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} turn and river were unhelpful to the Spaniard, who headed off to the rail.

Meanwhile Tim Ulrich got it in decidedly ahead with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} vs. Ville Mattila's {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Somehow fingers had been caught in the preflop cookie jar (we missed the preflop action) and Mattila had had to face off for all five cards.

They were, however, {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{J-Clubs} bringing a flush for the lucky Finn and busting Ulrich. Mattila is up to 850,000.

Roux the Day

Anthony Roux
Anthony Roux

Birthday boy Anthony Roux was all in for less than 90,000 from the cutoff, his {a-Hearts}{3-Spades} well behind button Angel Guillen's {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. No help from the {4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds} board, and he was gone.

The Mexican Team PokerStars Pro was up to 240,000 after that, still below average.

Difficult Spot for Csermely

Ever wondered if it is worth trying to qualify online for the EPT? We caught some action with two of the Pokerstars Online Qualifiers still battling it out deep and in the money.

The action was already at the river when Konstantinos Nanos made a bet of 79,000 from the cut off and the decision was over to Balazs Csermely and it was a tough one as the cards later revealed. Csermely had a set of threes and Nanos had hit the broadway straight. Csermely did make the call.

Csermely: {3-Diamonds} {3-Spades}

Nanos: {q-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Nanos now has a stack of ~582,00

Baranov Is Back

Sergii Baranov has had his share of life-risk today as his short stack has gradually become 310,000 through a sequence of double-ups. The latest saw his {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} spike two further Kings avoiding his opponent's straight draw with {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} and gives him a taste of his former stack glory.

The short stacks all over the room seem to be indestructable this level - four players with <100k doubled in the last 15 minutes meaning the field is staying resolutely at six tables. Fabrizio Gonzalez took a 100k hit running {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} into one of them - this particular short stack only had {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}.
