Antonio Buonanno Eliminated in 17th Place (€16,000)

Antonio Buonan-no split
Antonio Buonan-no split

The Day Four rollercoaster which dropped Antonio Buonanno only to raise him back up just as quickly has come off the rails and crashed him out of the tournament. It's been an exciting ride, but the final part of the journey was clearly disappointing for the Italian, who made a stand preflop with {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}, called by chip monster Kontantinos Nanos with {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The whole pot was only 200k, but as he's demonstrated before, that could have been enough to start a comeback.

Nanos told the dealer that he didn't need threes, "Just a split pot!"

It certainly looked like that would be the probable outcome, as the board ran out {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}...{K-Hearts}...but the river was the {3-Diamonds} and Nanos shook Buonanno's hand with a sympathetic frown on his face (although it's never genuinely depressing to stack another player's chips).

Non-TV Table - The First Few Hands

We are down to the final two tables and here are just a few hands from the Non-TV table.

Firstly, Bruno Launais opened to 52,000 from early position. Andreas Wiese and Jose Severino both called from behind and we had three players heading to the tables first flop.

Flop: {6-Hearts} {a-Clubs} {2-Spades}

Launais and Wiese both checked and Severino plonked a tower of yellow chips worth 100,000 in front of him and the other two guys folded giving Severino pot number 1 at the Non TV Table.

The second hand of the table saw Bruno Launais again open but this time from under the gun. Team Pokerstars Pro Martin Hruby called from the cut off and we had two to the flop.

Flop: {a-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} and the action was checked to the turn. Turn: {7-Clubs} and Launais made a considerable bet of just under the size of the pot and Hruby folded.

Getting Cained

Up on the feature table, Luca Cainelli shoved two hands in a row. Both times he picked up the blinds and antes - significant pots in relation to his stack - and remains hovering near the bottom of the chip counts for the moment on around 380,000.

Shipping Forecast

A good quarter of an hour has been showdown-free (wouldn't it be fun to have real-time hole card cameras, apart from the obvious problems?) and the deck has not been hitting more than one player at once. In fact it's not even apparent that even one player has a genuine hand - more like an eye for an open spot and a shortish stack.

After Cainelli, Morten Erlandsen's been the most keen on threebet shoving preflop.

Forecast: Erlandsen, Danish, 370,000, rising very slowly, good.

Cainelli, Italian, 430,000, squeeze of Pantazedis and caller, rising quickly, fair.

Toni Judet Eliminated in 16th Place (€20,000)

Toni Judet Eliminated in 16th Place
Toni Judet Eliminated in 16th Place

Team Pokerstars Pro Toni Judet has been eliminated in 16th place. This is how his final hand played out.

Bruno Launais opened to 54,000 under the gun and everyone folded around to Judet who made the call from the Big Blind. The flop was {q-Hearts} {j-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} and Judet checked over to the raiser Launais who made a bet of 62,000 and Judet made the call. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Judet again checked but this time very quickly. Launais, who was having a very rigorous massage at this point, fired his double barrel. "How much is that?" asked Judet and the Dealer announced it was 108,000. Judet took his time and diligently counted out the 108,000 and for a while it looked like he was going to make the call but at the last moment added a further 112,000 and instead made the raise. Launais looked at the Dealer and verbally declared he was all-in and Judet called. As we waited for the cameras to arrive at the table Judet asked Launais what he held and you could see the dejected look of the Team Pokerstar Pros forlonged face.

Judet: {a-Spades} {j-Diamonds}

Launais: {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts}

River: {8-Diamonds}

Launais moves up to 1.9 million

Bites Out of the Chip Leader

You know how one piranha won't get far with a whole cow, but a lot of them together eat one in lots of little bites? That's started to happen to chip leader Konstantinos Nanos (although it will take a long time to dent his stack of three million).

Jose Severino received a call of his preflop cutoff raise from Nanos, who then checked the {5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop. Severino immediately counted out 80k, bet it and sat under the stare of the chip leader for about half a minute (although it seems like these two might just see an infinitely reflected series of themselves in each other's shiny black sunglasses). Eventually Nanos passed.

The next hand Nanos limped in when it folded to him on the small blind, but passed quickly when Bruno Launais put in a raise.

Tonio Röder Eliminated in 15th Place (€20,000)

Toni Just Röder Out of Here
Toni Just Röder Out of Here

It has been a fine run but Tonio Röder will not be making our final table at this years EPT in Vienna after busting out in 15th place. The short stacked Röder shoved when the action folded around to him on the Button and Andreas Wiese also shoved all-in from the Small Blind. Jose Severino folded in the Big Blind after showing Wiese a {5-} which was not something Wiese wanted to see as he was holding {a-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. Röder held {k-Hearts} {9-Clubs}.

Board: {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {q-Hearts}

Röder out in 15th place.

Wiese: ~ 561,000

One Eiler Game Plan

A Thorn in Negreanu's Side?
A Thorn in Negreanu's Side?

Pokerstars Online Qualifier Michael Eiler does not get star struck - that is for sure! The German qualifier who includes a Pokerstars Sunday Million win in his CV clashed with Tom Dwan on day 2 and came out on top in a few skirmishes and today his star target is Team Pokerstars Pro Daniel Negreanu. I am not sure if it was a game plan of Eiler to put extreme pressure on Negreanu pre flop but it is happening and more importantly for Eiler it is working. This is the second time Eiler has four-bet all-in for over 1.8 million in reaction to a three-bet from Negreanu.

Eiler opens up from late position to 57,000 and Negreanu three-bets 100,000 more and Eiler just moved all-in. Negreanu was perplexed and eventually folded after declaring, "I am going to let you have this one." Eiler just smiled.

Keep your eye on Eiler.

Another Nibble Out of Negreanu

Michael Eiler is not the only gent at the TV table taking chunks out of Daniel Negreanu's formerly chip-leading stack.

It folded around to Balazs Botond in the cutoff who raised to 52,000. Daniel Negreanu flat called on the button and they saw a {7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop.

Botond bet out 60,000 and undeterred, Negreanu called. But the 100,000 bet from Botond in the {9-Hearts} turn proved too much for the Canadian, and he gave it up.

Negreanu - 2.1 million
Botond - fighting back with 850,000
