Top of the Popsz

There was around 40,000 already in the pot when we arrived on the turn of the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Spades} board. It looked as though Szymon Pieszczoch - the young man who was second in chips going into the day, and who would score very well in Scrabble - had bet out 23,500. Yuriy Nesterenko had raised to 55,000 and was sitting back in his chair, gazing around the room (things of note to see - a press member brazenly flouting the no-flash rule; also a tourist having his photo taken with Boris Becker), so he didn't notice Pieszczoch going all in for 144,200 in total.

Eventually Nesterenko registered the bold move, which would put him all in. He stacked and restacked his remaining chips - around 80,000 of them - but eventually folded. Pieszczoch is now back near the top of the chip counts, on around 240,000.
