We were just about to announce the ascension of Sander Berndsen to the probable chip lead (as the Dutch PokerNews were keen to have us believe) but actually their man trails Nima Ahary with 174,000 right here in level 7.
By the time we got there, a complete board reading was out on the felt. The dealer was announcing, "Eight thousand. Eight thousand," over and over again. Kevin Vandersmissen had bet 8,000. Fabrizio Ascari was removing his earphones and looking around in bewilderment, as though he'd just woken up and suddenly realised that he was still in the hand.
So now aware that he was expected to make a decision, Ascari tanked up for a little while. He said something that sounded like, "Jacks for me. Jacks for me," and he made the call - but a second later he was banging the table and declaring, "Very good," followed by, "No luck yeah."
Vandersmissen: for a set - now up to 63,000
Ascari: for just a pair of kings - now down to 57,000
Meir Dahan opened to 1,500 preflop and Johannes Strassmann was the only caller as the players saw a dry looking flop of . Dahan checked and Strassmann fired 1,100 only for Dahan to quickly check-raise to 6,000.
Strassmann studied the board again for the moment before electing to call to see a turn. Dahan now quickly fired 30,000 basically setting Strassmann all-in and German quickly pushed for barely a thousand more and Dahan called.
Strassmann: looking very unemotional
Dahan: and looking very sad
The changed nothing on the river and Strassmann doubled to 65,000.
It didn't hurt very much, though, as the person doing it was a very short stack moving in for just 3,850 over the top of Sebastian Ruthenberg's preflop raise. According to original seating plan this gent was Saab Rachad, but there's been more seat swapping here than on swings in the park so we'll call him Short Stsck. Ruthenberg's original raise to 1,500 had been flat called in mid position by another short-ish player with just 14,225 at the start of the hand, but this player folded when Ruthenberg set him in with an, "In for a penny, in for a pound," sort of look.
"Good fold," he said, showing which were promptly outdrawn by the Short Stack's which hit two pair on the board.
Kristijonas Andrulis and one other player were looking at a flop when we arrived at their table; the other player had checked in the hijack and Andrulis was betting 3,500 from the button. After a pause, his opponent made the call.
The turn was the and again the hijack gentleman checked. This time Andrulis bet 5,000, leaving himself just 9,000 back. This prompted an impressive Dwell Of Ages - whole hands were played out at neighbouring tables, whole tournament fortunes won and lost, before our gent finally folded.
After six and a half levels of play, Andrulis is back up to his starting stack - 30,000.
Angelo Falcone fired out 3,750 on the turn of a board against Dutch PokerStars Team Pro Joep van den Bijgaart and the latter flat-called to see a river. Now Falcone led out for 5,000 only for Van den Bijgaart to set him in for another 16,000 or so.
Falcone shrugged after a moment, before deciding to call and the Dutchman turned over for the full house, Falcone flashing into the muck as he was eliminated.

Operation Grind is underway for Praz Bansi, now on 14,000 which is actually an improvement on his pre-dinner count. He's capable of unusual feats of patience, however, and when his lead (2,200) on a flop was called, he check-folded the turn with a sigh when Marko Neumann bet.
