Yury'n Luck

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

The flop read {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} when we got there and a gentleman had bet out 1,500. Yury Kerzhapkin raised to 3,500 with just 5,000 back. His opponent peered over to assess Kerzhapkin's single yellow T5,000 chip, as though he couldn't quite believe that that was the sum of Kerzhapkin's tournament wealth. Then he called.

They saw a {7-Spades} turn and the first player checked. Kerzhapkin's last chip went in, his opponent called, and they were on their backs.

Kerzhapkin: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for a set
Gentleman opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

River: {2-Diamonds}

Kerzhapkin duly doubled, and is now rather more comfortable than before on a still below average 18,000.

Kehl Over

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

A preflop war ended in tournament defeat for Mathias Kehl. Several raises, ending with a shove from Alexander Debus after Kehl had fourbet 7,500 out of a 23-ish-k stack saw Kehl call after just a slight pause with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Covered by Debus, he could only watch as his opponent's {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} held over a {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board to send him to the rail.

Jesus Cortes Lizano

A full board of {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Clubs} was out on the felt when we got there, and Team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov bet 6,225. Across the table, EPT Barcelona runner up Jesus Cortes Lizano thought about it and eventually his internal scales came down on the side of "call" - but a second later he'd mucked owing to the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} set that Lykov turned up.

Lykov is up to 42,000 now, Lizano down to 17,200.

Check-Raise Annette At Your Peril

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad

Annette Obrestad has assumed her regular tableside look, sunglasses on, darkly painted nails riffling chips and a silent but deadly aspect which characterised her aggressive play the inaugural WSOPE Main Event. Not one to back down from every postflop confrontation, she bet when her heads up opponent Marin Mihaylov checked a {3-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. He check-raised to 1,600 and she calmly tipped in 4,500. Mihaylov passed quickly.

I'm Just a Jelass Guy

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ramzi Jelassi opened to 500 preflop and big blind Vincent Gabel (no relation to Clarke) flat-called to see a {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop.

Jelassi put out a continuation bet of 700 after Gabel checked but the latter called, the action quickly went check-check on the {9-Diamonds} turn.

Gabel also checked the {9-Diamonds} river and Jelassi fired out just 800 this time, Gabel did not waste much hesitation in calling however and the Swede quickly mucked his hand and said, "You win..."

Gabel didn't need to show either and picked up the meagre pot without any fuss.

Werner's Originals Don't Hold Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Rupert Elder had called a reraise against Bernd Werner to see a {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop where Elder checked across to his German opponent, the latter betting 2,075 which Elder called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Elder checked a second time, Werner quickly bet 7,000 which was almost the size of the pot but again Elder made the call. The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Elder checked a third time, after some deliberation Werner checked behind and showed {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a rivered pair but it was no good vs Elder's {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The Englishman is up to 75,000.

Kabrheliminated

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Last season's king of the EPT side events Martin Kabrhel is no more after getting very jiggy with a pair of sevens on a {3-}{4-}{5-} flop. The betting and raising went back and forth between him and his opponent and he eventually got his full 30,000 stack in - only to find his opponent holding {a-}{2-} for the straight. GG, Mr. Kabrhel.

Keys Locked Out

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

The gentleman under the gun limped in only for the gentleman to his immediate left to make it 650 to go. A couple seats down and Muhamed Veselji made it 2,000 from the cutoff - and now James Keys on the button cold four-bet to 4,450. The limper and original raiser folded, Veselji flat-called, and they saw a flop.

Flop: {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Both players checked. A turn.

Turn: {4-Clubs}

Veselji bet out 5,000 and Keys called. To the river.

River: {2-Hearts}

Veselji now went all in for a roughly pot-sized 22,000 - in any case covering Keys, who had 15,025 left to his name. Keys tanked up for a while and eventually called all in - and a moment later he was gone.

Keys: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Veselji: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

"I'm a bit gutted about that actually," Keys sighed afterwards. "I knew it was a fold."

Le fold a l'escalier. Keys is busto, and headed out into the Berlin afternoon.
