Big Traboul in Little Hand

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante
Thomas Traboulsi
Thomas Traboulsi

It was passed around to Luis Jaikel in the small blind and he raised to 54,000.

"Why can't you be friendly more?" moaned Thomas Traboulsi in the big blind. "You should just call and we go check-check-check?"

Jaikel shrugged.

Traboulsi then checked his cards. "Now we have a problem here..." The German thought for about a minute before saying again, "Big problem..."

Then suddenly he flipped {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and threw it into the muck and began to laugh. Since then, Traboulsi has been trying to convince the entire table to go on a smoke break with him but it appears Fabrice Soulier is the only other smoker at the table.

"There's only a few minutes left in the level anyway man," said the Frenchman

Soulier Doubles Up

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

The last hand of the level saw two all-in situations develop. On an outer table it was crunch time for Fabrice Soulier, who after a long pause four-bet all in from the button over the raise to 121,000 from small blind Mikhail Lakhitov. His <400,000 stack was eyed up by Lakhitov, who didn't look overly delighted but made the call anyway.

Lakhitov{A-Spades}{7-Spades}
Soulier{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, Soulier doubles and Lakhitov drops to around 350,000.

Markus Grewe Eliminated in 21st Place (€20,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante
Markus Grewe
Markus Grewe

It happened up on the feature table so we didn't get any of the action, but they've now decided to announce all-in showdowns so we can tell you the following.

Markus Grewe: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Ben Wilinofsky: {9-}{9-}

Board: {10-}{5-}{9-}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

EDIT - Wilinofsky told us afterwards that Grewe had raised preflop, then continuation-bet 115,000 on the flop. Wilinofsky raised to 234,000 and Grewe shoved. An easy call for Wilinofksy with middle set.

Anyway, Grewe shrank to nothing, and he goes home a few minutes into the first break with €20,000 to show for his efforts. Meanwhile Wilinofsky is our huge chip leader on perhaps 3.1 million. Official chip counts should be with us soon.

Break It Up

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

It is a bit of a scrum down there, owing to the lack of space and the number of people who have to crowd around the tables for various reasons. Plus the Main Event is situated in an awkward place, right on the main thoroughfare between all the side events and the toilets. What we need is to take a 15 minute break.

Henrique Pinho Eliminated in 20th Place (€20,000)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Henrique Pinho
Henrique Pinho

Max Heinzelmann raised preflop to 61,000 from late position and Team PokerStars Pro Henrique Pinho moved all-in for 649,000 from the blinds.

Heinzelmann didn't take too long to make the call with {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Pinho flipped {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} racing for his tournament life.

The flop was {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Pinho looked as though he knew his time was up but the {j-Hearts} on the turn gave him some additional gutshot outs but the river was another the {j-Clubs} and the Portuguese player was gone.

Pinho has his best ever EPT finish and picks up €20,000 for his efforts.

Alessandro Laubinger Eliminated in 19th Place (€20,000)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Alessandro Laubinger
Alessandro Laubinger

An awkward series of raises got Alessandro Laubinger's whole stack in preflop vs. Vadzim Kursevich. Laubinger made it 69,000 on the button (with 345k behind). Kursevich raised to 145,000. An expressionless dwell later, Laubinger moved forward first one stack and then his final two.

Having not announced, "All in," the ruling was that the first bet alone held - 239,000.

The decision whether or not to play the whole way to the river was now up to Kursevich anyway - he went for it, setting Laubinger in.

On their backs:

Laubinger{A-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Kursevich{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The flop double paired Kursevich: {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Thomas Kremser said something about a queen being the way for him to survive. The turn was a {10-Diamonds} and the river bricked {2-Diamonds}. Out Laubinger goes.

Traboulsi's Cards Not Big Enough to Call

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

It folded around to Luis Jaikel in the small blind, who went all in. Big blind Thomas Traboulsi sighed and commenced a lengthy spell in the tank.

"I have big cards," he told Jaikel. "I have very big cards." Jaikel looked uninterested and stared alternately at the felt and the ceiling. "King ten?" Traboulsi asked him.

"Nah!" said Jaikel, apparently somewhat offended by the suggestion.

"Pocket sevens?"

Jaikel returned his gaze to the ceiling. Eventually Traboulsi folded {a-Spades}{10-Spades} up. Jaikel showed him a dominated {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and took the pot.

Lakhitov Doubles Through Soulier

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

Fabrice Soulier opened to 73,000 and to his left the extremely short-stacked Mikhail Lakhitov shoved for the second time that orbit. Back to Soulier, who tanked... and tanked... and eventually made the call for 294,000 total.

Lakhitov: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Soulier: {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Board: {2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

They're at 650,000 apiece after that, but presumably feeling rather different about their stacks.
