No Bluffing from Ionel

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Romanian Anton Ionel always plays with a big smile upon his face, but I guess that's easy to do when you've won a little less than two million dollars in 2011.

He's up to 34,000 today after flopping a set of queens in a three-way pot. He was up against Leo Fernandez and David Collins and raised pot brought about a {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop.

Collins was the aggressor and continued with a 1,025 bet, Ionel was next to act and raised to 3,275. Fernadez folded from the big blind but Collins called. The turn came {7-Spades} and Collins check-folded to Ionel's 4,140 bet and was shown to black queens.

Bari Adding

After a player from early position raised to 500, action folded to Allen Bari in the small blind and he three-bet to 1,600. Ivan Demidov folded from the big blind before the original raiser made the call.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Bari bet 1,350. His opponent quickly folded and Bari picked up the pot.

ElkY's Flush is Bigger

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier raised to 425 from middle position and found a caller in the cutoff seat before the button three-bet to 1,325. Grospellier called and the flatter folded.

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Grospellier check-called a bet of 1,500 from his opponent before the dealer placed the {2-Clubs} out on the turn. Both players checked and then the river completed the board with the {4-Clubs}. Both players checked once more.

The button first showed the {5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, but his flush was no good to Grospellier's {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and the Team PokerStars Pro won the pot.

Sarwer Likes the River

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jeff Sarwer is up to 38,000 after a fortunate river card came to his rescue.

The action was three-way to the turn where the board read {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}. Sarwer led for 2,200 from the small blind and was called by the big blind. The third player folded.

The river came {7-Spades} and Sarwer's 5,000 bet was called. He tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a straight and the big blind seemed frustrated and threw his cards into the muck. "Turned my hand into a bluff on the turn but got there on the river," commented the Canadian.

Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Under the gun, Dominic Nitsche min-raised to 400, and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom three-bet to 3,150 a couple seats over. Not to be outdone, Denis Pisarev put in the cold four-bet to 3,150 total, and now only Blom called to go heads up to the flop.

It came {2-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}, and Blom check-called a bet of 3,600. When the {Q-Spades} paired the board on fourth street, Blom took the lead with a bet of 5,450, and now it was Pisarev doing the calling. The {7-Diamonds} filled out the river, and Blom only had one play left, all in for 13,125. Pisarev spent a few minutes considering the decision for most of his own chips, but he eventually mustered the gumption to drop the calling chips into the pot.

Blom patted the table in acknowledgement that he'd been caught, and he flipped his {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} over onto the felt. Pisarev's {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades} were plenty good enough to earn him the knockout, and Blom's exit has made his table just a bit more manageable for the others now.

From High to Low for MacPhee

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Former EPT Berlin champ Kevin MacPhee was going along very nicely until just now.

A little while ago his Tweet read, "Check/called 3 streets with AA on 986cch-3h-9 board and get shown A7hh... 44k at end of level 3 #continuingtherungood #eptbarcelona."

The latest one was not so good though, "Down to 6k. Button opens I 3bet 10s. Flop A106 rainbow bet/call. Turn 8 and I 3bet jam... he has 97o FML #atleastitissunday #eptbarcelona."

Good news edit: MacPhee back up to 17,000 after tripling up. His smile is back as well!
